Your are correct, however you are describing empathy here when the post is about how children become emotional regulators for abusive/absentee parents which becomes a lifelong and debilitating psychological issue for them as adults.
Empathy is best nurtured in a reciprocal manner especially during childhood development and it starts between the child and their caregiver(s).
Their only interest is profit, it was only a matter of time for that interest to consolidate into corruption and greed. In a world where making choices that benefit all do not generate as much short term gains as making choices that benefit a select few, it is easy to see exactly why these companies operate the way they do. Their interests are not ours.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. We should have regulated tech (and hard) decades ago. Were Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg not example enough for tech enthusiasts, or now that it’s too late is it the right time to shed our naive fairy tales about the Billionaire Supermen who want nothing more than to save us all?
Tbf, I see you as more of the issue than anything.
You’re a leader at work and have gotten way too involved in the personal lives of your coworker and subordinate, regardless of intent.
My advice is to look outside of work for interpersonal and romantic interests. You are already experiencing the consequences of your involvement, and the way you feel about this situation is the signal you should be listening to and taking heed of.
The more time goes on, the more I feel this.
