It’s not just a desire path but also a shortcut that saves you 7km. They are trying to block it but it’s coming back on the side.

Edit 1: Update, how it was going…

Edit 2: How it’s going now… They blocked the previous path and guess what? There is now another desire path, under the tree.

Update 2025-05-29: They are installing a wired fence. Going lengths to make people’s life more difficult!

Someone knocked off the pole that was on this section, the one in the photo is a replacement. Someone also bent the same section of the fence.

    Welcome to Southeast Asia! In some countries here road planning is an afterthought. Pedestrian or cyclist access is optional.

    I’ve seen it a few times, both of the developers do better planning on their side (not great, just better) but when it comes to connecting to a neighboring area, not such a great job.

    This desire path is right in the middle, so without it, it’s a 7km journey left or right from where the picture was taken to the other side.
