That looks like screenshot from any user to me. The highlighting is the same as me taking a screenshot of a comment where I @ someone else. It also looks the same when I see someone else’s comment @ someone else.

Edit: thank you all for down voting me for admitting that I didn’t notice the difference in the background and replied thinking they might be referring to the name highlighting. Clearly I must have been disagreeing with the comment I replied to and not just trying to learn something!

I don’t worry about it, just bugs me when people get downvoted for being unaware of something and admitting to it. “Here’s why I don’t understand” tends to be inferred to mean disagreement.

dont worry about downvotes, everybody will at some point be downvoted, valid reason or not. I know it feels bad, but everyone makes mistakes and it’s totally normal to be wrong sometimes ❤️
Lemmy doesn’t have karma for a reason :)

PS, it might be best etiquette to strike out your text like this so people understand that what you were saying was incorrect (2 of the ~ symbol on either side)

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. Unless I’m missing something it’s just stupid Lemmy hive mind

Because they’re incorrect. The original message has a yellow tint in the background, which is only present for accounts that get mentioned.

          I said:

Apparently I’m wrong about what something looks like to me.

I’ve seen your other comments, and it seems like you’re sour over getting downvoted because you weren’t able to notice a subtle difference that’s not easily obvious.

Personally, I like to be strict with the downvote button. It’s just something I picked up (and miss) from old Reddit: there used to be a strict culture on the site, which would lead to a high influx of relevant quality content.

In contrast, I saw a post on !lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world yesterday about the theistic breakdown of the American demographic. It was a cool graph, but not a shitpost; yet it had still gained more upvotes than downvotes.

Ultimately, I don’t think you should worry about it, as these votes matter even less on Lemmy than they do on Reddit.

No, I am sour because people can’t fucking read and insert what they think I’m saying instead of responding to what I wrote.

I didn’t feel the need to say it because @wander1236@sh.itjust.works had already written a reply explaining it. All I could have done was paraphrase their explanation and create unnecessary cruft.

You could have kept your pie hole shut when you saw that there was a response that clarified what I wasn’t seeing.

I did “keep my piehole shut”. I hadn’t replied to your comment. Instead, I replied to a different user.

Also, it is pretty apparent that you don’t want to have a respectful discussion. Disengage.

They are right that the hive mind is stupid for down voting a post that states they don’t see what the other person sees. I still can’t even tell the screenshot in the post has a yellow tint, but take others words for being able to tell the difference.

The highlighting is really hard to see without a contrast from the regular background color, and to be honest I never noticed the bright yellow stripe down the side.
