Interesting. Here in my parts of the states (like everything, it varies widely across the country) we have elementary school from 1st-5th grade (so like 6-7 up to 10-11), middle school from 6th-8th grade (like 10-11 up to 13-14), and high school from 9th-12th (about 13-14 up to 17-18, and some school districts are big enough to have a “freshman campus” because they needed more space for all the kids).
And most kids go to kindergarten the year before 1st grade, and some even go to preschool the year before kindergarten as well.
Joke police here. We don’t have “elementary school” in England. Pack it all up please.
