For anyone feeling targeted by this meme, here are some ways to help:

    • Donate to trans focused charities, like Advocates for Trans Equality or the Transgender Law Center
    • Support individual trans people. Surgery is expensive even with insurance due to time needed off work.
    • Please god just listen when a trans person says you’ve done something transphobic. The vast, vast majority of trans people don’t speak up about every little thing because we are drowning in transphobia. Generally if someone has said something it’s because it genuinely bothered them, even if it wasn’t ’that bad’ it may be intimately linked for them to past trauma; roughly 40% of trans people meet the criteria for a PTSD diagnosis, compared to less than 5% of the general population.

This is agitprop intended to divide. Don’t be a sucker. Cis people didn’t start pride month, and have never been excluded from it. All the queer people who are out at your local pride parade don’t care about your shallow cynicism, and are more than happy to embrace and celebrate their humanity with anyone and everyone. That’s the fucking point.

This is more of a commentary on how liberals etc. are happy to raise a pride flag on government buildings in June, but otherwise fail to be a real support.

I would argue that support is support. The most common failure of the revolutionary is to demand some ridiculous action threshold which does nothing but whittle down the base and isolate vulnerable individuals.

There are plenty of people in this world who have no support besides those who are not prepared to take radical action, or who simply do not know how to do anything besides symbolic activism. Don’t remove their support. If you want to help them push their comfort zone then offer real constructive input instead of this cynical slop.

          I support trans people!

-except when they are attacked in bathrooms

-except when they are being arrested

-except when I’m not attracted to them

          -except when they are homeless

          -except when they are poor

-except when it comes to passing policy

          -except when they are children

          -except when they aren’t profitable

That’s liberal love, and if you don’t like it you’re a bigot! >:c

I’m not trying to flame you but I hope you can acknowledge that those corporate false-friends did not make this meme (presumably) and thus didn’t have to get smuggled into the “cis allies” group. Even if you didn’t make this yourself, your posting of it amplifies its message.

Those fake “allies” could have been labeled anything else but, by their inclusion, have been used to cheapen the actual support given by true, well-meaning allies.

Supporting trans people when everything is fine means having a sticker on your car or waterbottle.

Supporting trans people while they are actively being erased means throwing bricks at cops.
