Gal Gadot suggested that political pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel contributed to Disney’s Snow White underperforming at the box office, though she acknowledged other factors played a role.
-
The film, starring Gadot and Rachel Zegler, earned $87 million domestically compared to higher-performing Disney remakes; Zegler faced criticism for her pro-Palestine stance during promotion.

Gadot emphasized she enjoyed working with Zegler, said her “conscience is clean” regarding support for Israel, and expressed hope for peace and safety for all people.
Disney fans don’t give a fuck about Palestine, sometimes there is just such a thing as a bad movie. People are tired of dumb live action remakes, and in general Snow White as a story just did not age well and was never going to be a success in modern cinema.
The hero has a good voice, and movie had a couple of good songs. Usually a good Disney formula. That and a popular, somewhat good plot, fairy tale remake, is part of the formula.
That formula doesn’t work anymore. Doing the exact same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over again will eventually show diminishing returns, and the overt racism and sexism of snow white just simply doesn’t have staying power. People don’t want that anymore. Even the blind consumers of disney.
