The average us commuter drives 30 minutes or rodes transit an hour one way half travel longer.

Few people are likely to want to commute the distance people actually commute in the US in best conditions and people live so far out largely because its what they can afford to do.

Add in poor conditions and even nearlyall the minority with short commutes is out because they don’t want to be sweaty and gross or uncomfortable all day at work.

Bikes are a garbage solution to commuting. Public transit and more affordable housing where people work is the actual solution.

Public transit and more affordable housing where people work is the actual solution.

… Therefore making bikes an excellent consequential solution to commuting. No one with a lick of sense is recommending that the only change required is that people switch to biking instead of driving.

Funny thing is, with more people using bikes and public transport, there would be less cars to slow down traffic and more free parking spots in general.

Is cycling the right solution for everybody? No. Neither is the car, but here we are.
