Oh that sounds pretty neat. I’d totally buy a Saints Row game that isn’t revolving around aliens or is the blandest and most boring reboot in the history of reboots.
Seriously. SR3 was like a goofy spinoff. Then 4 happened.
I enjoyed 3, it was pretty good but some of the things were a little over the top. Such as robbing a fucking military base with only a handgun as the “first” mission. And the hoverbikes. And the mech-like tanks, etc.
4 was just too much, man.
2 was fun all the way through, I really liked that one. More of that, please.
1 I didn’t play at all sadly, might get around to it some day but I feel like it might feel very very dated. The reboot I quit after like 10 hours, it felt so bland and boring, there was no soul there.
Tbh I need to replay 2, I can’t even remember if I actually finished it back in the day. Didn’t play 1 either, though I never really hear anyone talk about it, everyone goes straight to 2.
I do think 3 was really good, it was definitely a bit too much but they still made it work. 4 was where they took those ideas and went off the rails with it for some reason.
I was interested in the reboot until the feedback starting coming out and yeah I’m not touching that one
3 was real fun, but maybe a bit too much. I think a 2.5 is where it’s at.
I enjoyed 3. I think it was 3. that one part where you parachute into some place while that Kanye song plays? that was 3 right? shit man I can’t tell them apart at this point.
It’s 3. 3 was good.
Thanks, yeah 3 was fun. I never played the first one and didn’t get through the second but 3 I played beginning to end a couple times just because it was one of those games where you could turn your brain off and just have fun. Great game to play after a long day of work.
3 was my first Saints Row and I had lot of fun with it. The mini games were fun too and Pierce and The Boss singing was so memorable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KdwbygnAc0
Okay, I’m in the minority here, but i absolutely loved 4. It was so over the top Matrix meets SR and the game play is good enough I keep coming back to it.
I think many of us feel that way.
The thing is, I adore Saints Row 4, but I don’t think I want to play Saints Row 4 Part 2.
So I do hope they return to the style of Saints Row 3 for the next chapter.
Honestly, what I really want is Saints Row 3 again with some new plotlines and lots of car skins and dress-up options.
They should retcon everything after 3, just give us saints row 3.5 in whole new area. Fuck it, make it saints row taking over a small island country for tax reasons and just roll with it. Mix CIA into it because it’s a American vessel or some shit to make it still feel like new York or LA or whatever they need. The details aren’t important if the end picture is delivered.
Fuck it, make it saints row taking over a small island country for tax reasons and just roll with it.
If they do this, that can shut up and take my money.
Kind of an ephemeral thing though, isn’t it? Saints Row 1&2 were deeply influenced by the contemporary hiphop scene and limitations in game development at the time. A constant issue with these attempts at remakes and reboots is they don’t do the work that is necessary to capture the feel of the time these games were made in. How could you make a game without the ugly mid-00s bloom feel like Saints Row 2?
I have to giggle, as an old fuck, because, once, this series was solid, but a purposeful offbrand niche of GTA. Since the corpos Skyrim’ed GTA there is an actual opportunity for the once, silly, to shine. Life’s a trip.
Solid?? I can accept Fun… but solid is not a word I would use. The game was falling apart on it’s debut. I had to go dig up one of my first youtube favorites:
