Babysitting my mom’s three cats. She left a box of Churu. They like them a lot. I was surprised. I thought it was just a few rare internet videos I have watched. Cats really like this.
would you believe my calico does not really care for them but my tortie absolutely LOVES them? even if i take some out of the tube and put it on my finger, the calico will just not bite.
even my vets are shocked when they offer them at exam and i’m like yeah callie won’t bother

Which is funny because he’s fat, and very food motivated. Jumps off the couch when his auto feeder runs.
Like, he’ll eat the tube stuff, but not out of the tube, and he doesn’t go crazy for it. Very odd.

It’s basically just watered-down cat food in a tube. And, honestly, not all cats like it. We have one cat that will eat it, but only if I squirt it out onto a plate. The other cat won’t even touch the stuff.

We ruined it for our cat by putting his medicine into it. Prior to that it was like crack
Gotta crush it first. And until they get used to it only do a tiny amount in each “serving” so like an eight of the pill in the first quarter of the churu, slowly getting more.
Trust me, we’ve tried it all. Crushed pills, liquid, whatever. Homeboy takes one sniff and nopes out.

I’ve used churu to end wars between cats. It’s a game changer for earning a good reputation when you’re new to a suspicious cat. Maybe they don’t let you touch them yet, but now they come out to see you in case you brought more of that delicious goo.

No idea if it’s true or not but there was a rumor back in the day, that “natural flavors” was code for just a tiny bit of catnip essence.

Neither of our cats seem to have the catnip liking gene, but they still go out of their mind for churu.
My cats actually prefer Delectables over Churu (they tell me it’s a consistency/texture thing). But I think both brands have some form of bone marrow in them to make them extra umami. Not nip. Could be why your nip-resistant kitties still lose their minds over Churu.
Cats eat by sense of smell before taste. Churu is basically thin tapioca pudding (not dairy but texture-wise i mean) with a shitload of strong scents in it that drive them absolutely wild!
Friend of mine who works at a vet gave me some churu once, but my cats were totally uninterested in it. Only way i got them to eat any was to mix it in with their dry food lmao.

my cats have no interest in it. i was very disappointed with my purchase and had to mix it in with their wet food to get rid of it
My cat weirdly aggressively hates them. She hisses at them and tries to bite me the like two times iv ever offered her one.
She normally doesn’t even purr she makes no noises and gets scared if she catches her self making any. So for her to actively hiss is wild.
Cats are wierd
Ours love it. Two out of three of my parents’ cats love it. I split a tube onto two plates so that my subservient cat gets some while the piggy is busy with her own plate. The funny thing is that the piggy is underweight and the pushover is borderline a fatty.
