My guy, trans women are real, objectifying depictions of them in fiction are imaginary. If you make a stereotypical and dehumanizing representation of a real group of people, I’m afraid that you can’t just say “well, I made it up,” and dissuade any criticism of how this relates to real world politics and its violence. Incredible porn-brained reasoning here.

edit: really starting to notice the influx of redditors on here.

I’d say equating people’s fantasies with real people is the real dehumanizing thing. Rational people are able to separate fantasy and reality… why arent you?

I’ll admit I’ve never seen futa as harmful, but I also admit this comparison made me think.

We’re not totally okay with characters like Mr Popo from Dragonball because they’re somewhat close to harmful stereotypes, even if he’s fantasy-based and it wasn’t intended.

I feel like if the practice is based on genuine fetish and not any notable efforts to harm a community, that could be taken into account. I’d mostly just rather culture fights take aim at those forms of pointed harm; but I’d also want to know how many other trans people might feel impacted.

i don’t know how to explain this in a way that won’t set you off any more, but the vibe of your instant hostility comes across as reddit behavior.

the previous commenter seems uninformed and you took that moment to lash out instead of trying to correct their misunderstanding.

Lemmy isn’t as trans-woke as it used to be. At least Lemmy World. All the major communities are basically Reddit. And the mods are just as power trippy.

Yeah, men typically show up once something gets more populated and then act like they’ve always owned it. I wonder where they would learn to think like that and if it is at all connected to transmisogyny 🧐

Apologies, they’re not immune to transmisogyny either, in the same way cis women are not immune to misogyny. Parents are often the leading culprits in teaching or allowing misogyny to develop within their children. That’s mothers and fathers.

When I say misogyny I’m referring to all misogyny. Trans women do not exist in a vacuum.

Literally what you just said was transmisogynist, and I understand that many people who may be queer aren’t necessarily educated on what the terms mean; and most liberals feel threatened by the potential of not already being morally pure by merit of “being a good person.” Transmisogyny is a term that refers to the specificity in how trans women and transfeminine people experience misogyny, it isn’t just a word that means “misogyny but for trans people.” They don’t need to “exist in a vacuum” to require language to articulate their specific experiences, and the term emerged exactly because those experiences are erased by people who would prefer trans women not be too loud or annoying about things.

Trans men do certainly experience, internalize, and reproduce misogyny in their own ways as well, but I’m not talking about them. You are under a thread that is filled with men explicitly advocating for the use of a slur against trans women because of their inability to reconcile their acceptance of that slur with their safe place of rabid sexualization and objectification of trans women in their goon porn. And no, it isn’t “just parents” like people can have good or bad parents and be set for life, we are all socialized collectively to subscribe to patriarchy. This means challenging it is a practice we must all participate in, not some badge you get on your scout sash and forget about.

What you just said is a common TERF fascist talking point.

You’re doubling down and inferring people’s genders/identities based on their sexual preferences just to misdirect a trans-phobic dog whistle towards somebody who you disagree with. Yikes. Didn’t mean to get you so fired up. No need to hit the panic button. We’re just talking here.

I’m sorry, but trying to suggest that I’m a Scooby-Doo-esque transphobe under the mask next to an attempt to gaslight someone over their emotional response to bigots targeting their exact marginalized group makes it very difficult to take this seriously. You also put this directly under my comment that predicts liberals responding with hostility should their uncritical morality be challenged.

Do you think trans women are like, not used to that?

Lemmings are unable to think rationally when someone brings up the fact that porn can be harmful.

Yes, which makes my comment above very funny as it is in reference to someone else saying this, big loop.
