Most coworkers made working there a breeze but the manager is somebody who will throw me under the bus if she has to and loves playing favorites.

I sometimes talk and eat together with those coworkers I enjoy and is a breeze, I sometimes miss working with them, they made the job easier.

But the manager is a person I don’t trust. So what does a smart person do in a situation like this?

    What is the question…….

IT IS ALL ABOUT THE BOSS

If you groove with your boss, you can shovel shit in a muggy swamp and be happy.

If you dont get along with your boss, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

What does a smart person do in a situation like this?

    Avoid at all costs.

Good colleagues make it bearable at best. Was stuck with that for 5 years. Would never work for those people again, no matter the colleagues.

Seriously, this is the definition of a “work there for 15 minutes until you find literally anything else” bridge job.

People don’t quit jobs, they quit bosses.

Don’t do it. Or, if you do, firmly stipulate that you will not work under that person as a direct result of past experiences with that person. If that’s not an option, just say “thanks, but no thanks”.

How badly can they mess with you?

If they can dock your pay, or give you terrible jobs to do, forget it.

If it’s a matter of belittling you, ignore it.

Also, see if there’s a way to sabotage the manager.

She’s gonna have power over your employment; if you don’t trust her not to use that to fuck with you (and it sounds like you can’t), don’t go work there. You’ll be able to find a position elsewhere.
