You used enough energy to power a washing machine *for an hour* to not achieve this.

Where do you guys even make up these numbers? On a locally hosted model I can generate this in maybe two minutes. Maxing my supply (650w) for two minutes would use maybe 0.02kWh. I promise my washer uses substantially more over a one hour period, between 0.5 and 1kWh worth.

Really we were just dunking on someone for posting soulless slop instead of simply posting a fucking picture. Even a dirty, empty bowl would have been better. It doesn’t matter how shitty the picture is (or would have been) since the only reason any of these online social spaces exist is for connection. A glimpse into some strangers life with all the same hopes dreams and fears as you. Posting this crud is a bit worse then posting a stock image, it bears no connection to the actual person posting it and defeats the purpose of the space it was posted in. It’s basically a lie and serves no purpose.

The page I linked in another comment summed up the energy usage which, critically, included how much energy was used for training; unsurprisingly, it is substantially more than a single prompt. I suppose the energy you referenced using on your local model doesn’t include the energy used to train it. Even if you’re self hosting; by using the model you’re also part of the cohort that benefits from the energy used to train it; therefore validating similar energy use in the future and sustaining the companies that are pumping even more CO2 into the atmosphere then one would need to for their basic comforts and survival.

Essentially, using AI during an ongoing and exponentially worsening biosphere collapse is the highest form of hubris and selfishness I could imagine possible without also imagining that person as clinically insane. It seems to me that you are right on the edge of this, masking your cognitive dissonance by automatically assuming the numbers were made up.

Sorry to verbally attack you, but I simply have zero respect for “AI” and the people that support it (you) while ignoring the destruction it’s causing. I’m not going to bother digging up the actual link, because if you actually cared you would have looked it up yourself before even thinking of using AI. Any evidence I post or talk about will be dismissed.
