OT: Explain your roof tiles. They seem like pieces of wood placed next to each other with no overlap.
Those are slate tiles. The moss is hiding the raised edge of the tiles. They do overlap, of course.

And what do you think the moss likes about the edge? Rough substrate with plenty of surface area and maybe some water retention?
Somebody here said there was more than one layer; I see hear that the slate is being attached to boards. What do you attach the second layer to?

Oh, I hope no one’s fighting. Some roof moss is intentional, I hear, and looks neat.
It does look cool. My dream house is built of mostly moss and cobwebs.

They’re proper ceramic(?) / slate tiles and they do overlap but the moss may be hiding the joins.
They look good! Did you have them before? Do they work well?
The gutters had a thin plastic mesh covering them when we moved in, which had become brittle and fragile with age. This is a much more robust system and should work just as well (and last longer) than the previous installation. I guess we’ll see in due course!
