I’ve been working really hard those past 3 months to deliver what I can consider to be the best android IPTV app; fully open-source, intuitive, bloat-free and ultra-fast. Today, I release Fred TV 2.0 on the playstore!
I’m a solo open-source dev and I originally made the series of Fred TV apps (desktop, mobile, etc) for my friends and family who were using borderline malware proprietary IPTV apps. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it as much as them!

You should really make that github readme actually say useful things, like what it is and what it does. Maybe something about how it does things.

What are these apps for? I always see tons of “IPTV” apps floating around but what do you connect them to?
IPTV stations. There are basically URLs that host streams that are 24/7 content, like a normal TV channel. You need some interface to properly read the stream, hence the app. Most of the good stuff is behind pay walls, but there’s some decent free stuff out there as well. Are any of these “legitimate”? Or are they at the same level of legality as all the free sports streaming sites?
Yeah, it’s really just a way to access streams. I think of it similar to torrents in that way. There are legitimate, legal streams, and there are piracy/illegal streams. I don’t actually use IPTV and have no idea if these guys have channels that people care about, but they provide IPTV streams and appear to have licenses from all content owners to do so: https://nomadiptv.com/
Stealing my name for tv app isn’t cool /s. But why does it cost money? To me that opposite of open source.
it’s free, just paid on the play store as a donation/support for the app. It’s also to help me manage all the store front listings. I need to pay bills and survive too 😅
I pulled it off flat hub a while back. I like hypnotic as well. But this loading in a native player under Linux is very nice. Just wish either were non GTK. 😆 It and Firefox are always a bit jarring with their window decorations. But it works fine.
