So, basically Russians have bottlenecked grain exports, and to speed things up, Poland is letting Ukrainian trucks drive straight through to other nations bordering Poland - kind of like how the US allows Mexican truckers to drive straight through to Canada.

They no longer have to slow down and transfer cargo to Polish truckers. So, less work for Polish truckers.

    Correct?

Correct with the caveat that the Polish truckers have to comply with the EU regulations (laws designed to make sure drivers aren’t forced to drive 12 hours straight and their trucks are not falling apart) while the Ukrainian ones don’t. Polish and Ukrainian govts are slowly getting to work on the issue but that’s just the beginning. When Poland and others accessed the EU the German truckers, farmers… were also quite dissatisfied. It’s a complicated matter and while I wholeheartedly support Ukraine and agree that all measures should be taken to make grain exports smoother I should also acknowledge, that this time the conflict is not just mere pettiness from the Polish side.

That is simply not true. If you drive through a country you have to adhere to that countries standards, no matter where you or your truck are from.

So it’s basically how a lot of German truckers lost their job to polish and Romanian truckers with EU regulations?

Poland is starting to move from on of the main beneficiaries of the EU to having poorer countries next to then it seems

It’s not a Poland thing, its these asshole trucker “protesters” who always seem to cave to any rhetoric that suggests something is unfair to them at which point they shutdown everything regardless of the damage they cause. Ukrainian troops running low on tourniquets and drones (often supplies from Poland itself) because some dip shit thinks Ukrainian truckers offer better rates… Motherfucker there is no shortage of shipping demand right now, you are personally costing yourself and others far more with this indefinite shutdown.

Maybe wait for a non-critical phase of the war at least but no they start this in the middle of a Russian offensive. No doubt in my mind Putin is involved and puppeting these assholes.

Only thing Poland in general is failing at is not clearing them out.
