Peace be with you. You are absolutely right. In my early days of exploring “privacy,” I signed up for Reddit because I thought it was independent, but I was truly wrong. Google and Reddit actually have a deal that lets Google train its AI on user posts. It’s wild that Reddit would allow that. I deleted my account immediately. But, im really happy to find a plattform like lemmy.

For me, data privacy is just about being practical and ethical. I hate it when big corps like Google use my data for things I can’t control, like military projects. It makes me angry, when they turn a tiny mosquito into a weapon. I see that happening with AI too. I’m against that.

I don’t know if that makes me ‘left’ or 'liberal’😅. My goal on forums like Lemmy is simply to find like-minded people, who share this ethical approach and to make friends there😊. Thats it.

Plus, there was something nostalgic about being able to pop the battery out from the back, just like old phones. At the end of the day, what really matters to me is a de-Googled system like Murena. But yeah, having a nice-looking phone wouldn’t hurt either. Thanks again!
