No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is US rail travel so expensive?
17·24 days agoWas in a train the other day. Across the European country side. Doing 160 mph. Reading a book, taking a nap. Whatever. No traffic. No dealing with road rage and aggressive drivers. Show up like 10 minutes before the train. No TSA. No hassles. Just get on the train and relax. Fuck cars and airplanes.

Programming@programming.dev•GitHub: We going to train on your data after all
13·1 month agoRight. My theory is that for all of the AI companies that have that don’t use my data option, it’s just an option on the screen. It doesn’t actually do anything. They still use your data.

Technology@lemmy.world•The US bans all new foreign-made network routersEnglish
16·1 month agoIt’s a money grab. About the only networking companies that build in the us are like Cisco and juniper. Which odds are, you aren’t running at home. This is without a doubt a money grab. Google and Amazon will gladly pay the exemption fee. Some others will as well. This isn’t about security or “pay American”. It’s a money grab.

9·1 month agoLast time I looked at using public transport to get to work it would take about 3.5 hours. Takes 30 minutes to drive. Housing is too expensive near there for me to move.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google Search is now using AI to replace headlinesEnglish
13·1 month agoBefore long they will use it to just create their own sites. Their own articles. Why replace just the headline. A whole internet of just google ai generated bs. Just search something on Google and everything from there on is ai generated. All results. All pictures. The maps. Everything. Nothing will be real.
I would a million time prefer walking 16 minutes than sitting in traffic for 6.

I work outside all the time. It’s great. Use my laptop on the screened in porch. In the shade. Ceiling fan on. Maybe in the hammock. Doing whatever I want on the laptop while jiggler keeps my work laptop active in another room.
