Who are these people? This one is going over my head.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•developer of game 'Rust' talks about anticheat on linuxEnglish
4·22 hours agoI also highly doubt their statement that more users were cheating under Linux than not. I’d like to see how they came to this conclusion. And if it’s so easy to identify who was cheating, why not just ban them if it’s .01 players? That’s like 7 or 8 bans. An insignificant amount of effort would go a long way here.
Remember when Apex banned Linux during a cheating low, and then cheaters started trending upward AFTER the ban? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
And people are correct to do so.

Games@sh.itjust.works•Pokemon Legends Z-A is ‘the best-selling physical game of the year so far’ in the USEnglish
9·2 days agoIt has been a while since I played one but I remember really enjoying Pokémon Unbound with some caveats. Those being, they decided to change typings for the hack. So my Charizard and Ampharous were Dragon type and it messed up my team dynamic pretty bad. Other than that no complaints at all. I think that one had QoL for HMs too where you can use any HM without teaching it so long as a Pokémon in your party can use it. However, I could be confusing it with another one, again, it has been a while.
There’s also another where you are a member of team rocket, and its really cool. It follows the story of Red/Blue/Green with a twist of what team Rockets intentions truly are and, by the end, it will have you rooting for team rocket pretty hardcore. There are a few rocket hacks out there but I think this is the most popular one.
Poor baby. Just this week I saw someone hit a cat in front of me and keep driving. I pulled over and tried to save it but he passed away before I got him in the car after he cut up my leg in confusion. No microchip so I gave him a proper, respectful burial. Then I came inside and let all my babies know how important they are to me.

35·2 days agoAnd it still looks the way it does. I love me some Pokémon but at this point ROM hacks are a far more enjoyable, reliable, and respectful experience than the new Pokémon releases.
Knowing this is a game from the largest grossing multimedia franchise of all time, we could play ignorant and act like the bare minimum is okay. Or, we can open our eyes and realize they’re doing the least they can knowing the consumers are still going to buy it. Unfortunately, the market has decided on the blue pill.

1·3 days agoHow does one do this? Roll it and dip it in honey up to the filter, let the excess drip off and throw that bad boy in the freezer? I’ve often felt like they burn too fast and I’m wasting it.
I might try this.

Games@lemmy.world•What's a recent game you've tried playing that isn't worth the hype?English
61·7 days agoTo me, the Souls combat does best in a tightly knit and highly curated environment. I really enjoyed Elden Ring but I do not think it was a step forward for the series. Open World worked to the detriment of the game IMO.

Games@lemmy.world•What's a recent game you've tried playing that isn't worth the hype?English
13·7 days agoActually. I tried Skyrim so many times and never got into it, then I decided to give it the best shot and play with a cavalcade of QoL mods. I went from a hater to a true Skyrim enjoyer. At this point, with how pessimistic I was about the game, I think with the right setup ANYONE can enjoy it.

Games@lemmy.world•For those of you who enjoy open-world games, how big of a world is too big?English
2·9 days agoThe copy-paste dungeons were a big issue for me. And the amount of reused enemies and bosses. There is definitely a way to “optimally” play the game for the best experience. But I’d say that goes against the nature of what an open world is supposed to represent.

41·11 days agoHot take, but the open world nature of Elden Ring drove me crazy. Coming from a series grounded by its tightly knit and highly curated environments, I never understood why Elden Ring is so unanimously considered the “peak” of the series.
I enjoyed my time with it, but I couldn’t help but wonder what the game could have been without the open world inclusion. So for me it’s not necessarily “how big is too big”, but whether or not the gameplay necessitates an open world.

This is how I’ve used them. Or I’ll just put – as a place holder and use the replace all function to change them when I finish. Luckily I’ve never had anyone accuse me of AI writing but it’s probably a matter of time. I think the use of em-dash as the “telltale sign” of AI is silly. They’re just more often used in research, documentation, and academics which the AI is heavily trained on. Obviously when average reddit Joe uses them frequently it’s a bit of a red flag, so the context of the writing is key here. The AI uses it because it is widely and commonly used by humans.
