If you don’t think every major US site has been freely giving your data to the government for 20+ years, you’re painfully naive. US law has never required a warrant for this type of thing due to the Third Party Doctrine.

In case you haven’t heard, a bunch of the original KSP developers are teaming up with the DayZ guy’s company to make a spiritual sequel: Kitten Space Agency.
Because it’s Microsoft and they have to compulsively rename things every few years.
Just imagine if he had stuck to his promise of being a one term president and didn’t try to run for reelection.
Idk, as a white guy, that’s more cringe than offensive. Maybe that’s because I live in the South and can pass for a redneck, but I hear some vile shit from those other white guys fairly often.
You mind linking me to that ad?
Obama was a unique situation in that he was both an incredibly charismatic JFK-style figure and ran after the Republicans had managed to both start a very unpopular war and destroy the world economy.
That’s only going to happen if the side in favor of democracy is given a decisive victory. Squeaking out another win isn’t going to be enough.
No, but the whole point of Doctorow’s Enshittification essay is that it inevitably will. In the same way animals keep evolving into crabs due to convergent evolution, social media companies will keep turning into shit because the market incentives push them that way.
Boffins coming up with a magical new solution to a problem that they somehow know will 100% work despite having done zero experimentation or testing.
Every OS has a limited life span of support. Linux is no different. Every distro I’m aware of does 5 years or less of support vs Microsoft’s 10 years.
You’re missing half the point of enshittification. I’m just going to quote Doctorow directly:
“Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die. I call this enshittification, and it is a seemingly inevitable consequence arising from the combination of the ease of changing how a platform allocates value, combined with the nature of a “two-sided market”, where a platform sits between buyers and sellers, hold each hostage to the other, raking off an ever-larger share of the value that passes between them.”
That’s part of enshittification. Step 2 of enshittification is to entice in business buyers with low prices and changes that meet their needs. Step 3 is to cut costs and start price gouging to maximize profits.
In Texas, it’s common knowledge that the best tacos and tortas are from gas stations.
I’m my experience, that’s most right-wingers in Texas. They’ll bitch about corporate power, the consolidation of megacorps, the little guy getting fucked over and then just be completely unable to process that the last 40 years of Republican rule are why that’s happening. They’ve decided their identity is Republican and questioning that is something they’re not willing to do, even if their ideology runs counter to it.
They’re also one of the companies trying to destroy the NLRB.
Not according to the electoral college.
There will 100% be a policy to disable it. Microsoft may shit on their retail users, but there’s no way they’d force it on their enterprise clients. It’s a security and compliance nightmare and they know it.
Less than 20% of people live in rural areas in the USA.
Except the “Small government” is even bigger. The only difference is that all the money gets handed to oligarchs. The Republicans have never reduced spending while in power.
This kind of shit is why the right keeps winning. Even the people that oppose them buy into their framing and repeat their lies and propaganda.
