but now we have a scapegoat
but now we have a scapegoat
I mean, if we genuinely had a significant amount of local, state and federal law makers that cared about protecting their constituents instead of whatever the fuck they are doing now, we could have some accountability.
Yes. but those people that lose their jobs wouldn’t have to stress about either paying for or using healthcare - This freedom can give many people the opportunity to do something they love (or like to do). Maybe that is starting a new business or creating a new product? Or they could go work in a different industry that they find more fulfilling where previous they couldn’t because of the lack of health benefits.
I think in the long run the people that lose their job grinding away in a huge faceless health insurance job might actually be a good thing for them?

I’m a little biased but I do look down on men that lack any handyman skills
That is a lot biased to the point that you can’t even see that other men’s lives may have put them in a position of not learning those things or even wanting to learn those things. It’s great that you know how to do those things but just because someone has a penis doesn’t mean they have to learn how to be handy. That doesn’t make them any less of a man, just different from you.

I do appreciate posts like those.
My objective when I look through a comment thread, especially in a topic I don’t know much about, I’m looking for the well reasoned posts. I admit I’m a human (confirmed via captchas) and love to have my opinions validated, but I also like to read a different take on a situation or issue. And because I am not in a situation where I don’t feel like I have to defend my opinion I’m more open to seeing a different perspective.
So thank you for taking the time to write those out - and to others that do that thank you as well.

Why does my stomach hurt after eating french toast?
I’ve been on both sides of this meme
The interesting thing was she was/is a middle school teacher. You’d think she would encourage questions, not just look it up.
But I guess she was trying to help me not be ignorant because I was just killing time … at a party
reminds me of a story:
Got invited to a dinner party of people I didn’t know well, they were friends of my then girlfriend.
So we were sitting around before dinner chatting and drinking and I brought up a question about something that we were all talking about. I don’t remember what it was but the point was just to keep conversation going and to interact with people. BUT one lady just looked at me and said “why don’t you just Google it?!” Shut down conversation completely.
Sure I could Google it Karen but that doesn’t make for good conversation!
I remember that game. My dad got it from a very conservative/racist family member - with a note that read something like “too bad I’m white and have to work for my money.”
I don’t think my dad ever talked to him again.
This is the most capitalistic game on the market and you still get a $200 UBI
A very rich friend of mine decided that they wanted to “take time off” and travel the world. She called her travel agent (10 pm on a Saturday) and got them to build a world trip by Monday afternoon. That Friday she got on a plane and just left for 9 months of travel. There was never a sense of this being a big deal or extravagant but more of a quirky whim.
It was then that it occurred to me that while we live on the same planet we don’t live in the same world.
To have one job I find enjoyable, creative, and slightly challenging that gives me enough income that I can enjoy a stress-less life.
I like to think about it differently: That this planet is an incredibly unique and rare thing and humans are even more incredibly unique in the universe. And from that one thing makes us and our planet very very special.
