Apparently that time intersects with three big shifts: the first international pirate manhunts, the start of the British Empire, and the creation of the corporation. White American sailors got in a fight with Mexican Americans. It’s unclear what started it but the following actions of American sailors provides good context. After the initial fight, sailors started to randomly target Mexican-Americans and jumping them. Of course, there was retaliation and it got really crazy - I won’t spoil it for anyone interested.

The reason I mention it is because it’s fascinating to see how media organizations like the LA Times covered it. They unanimously blamed “gangs” of Mexicans and didn’t blame demonstrably racist American sailors whatsoever - they were obviously brave patriots, and not you know fuckin fascists

Have you spent any time trying to understand the recent events that happened in Amsterdam? It seems like Israelis were the instigators and participating in despicable behavior, according to first-hand reports, but I’m absolutely open to being corrected - this is a developing story, afaik

Why are your bars unequally divided?

It doesn’t make sense for chocolate bars to be divided into equal-sized chunks when there is so much inequality in the chocolate industry! The unequally-sized chunks of our 180g bars are a palatable way of reminding Choco Fans and Serious Friends that the profits in the chocolate industry are unequally divided.

And in case you haven’t noticed, the bottom of our bars depicts the West African coastline. The chunks just above it represent the Gulf of Guinea. From left to right, you have Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo and Benin (terribly politically incorrect, we know, but we had to combine them to create enough space for a hazelnut), Nigeria and part of Cameroon.

Idk, I’m bilingual and I only ever think in English. It doesn’t really seem to make a difference though, saying things out loud vs in my head.

I’m learning a third language now and can just barely communicate with others (worked with a taxi driver!). That said, I wouldn’t consider myself truly trilingual yet. I could think in that language but it doesn’t really feel like it changes anything - I still only know the same words in my head

You’re probably right. I just worry uninformed angry people are ripe for being taken advantage of.
