  • I don’t like the phrasing ‘only you know about’ because that’s not an easy standard to meet, however I have seen a lot of movies…

The Man From Earth (2007) - College professors discuss many topics with a colleague who claims to be thousands of years old. Fully dialogue driven movie shot almost entirely in one room. Great pacing but just a little cheesy in a few spots.

Cube (1997) - Without remembering how they got there, several strangers awaken in a prison of cubic cells, some of them booby-trapped. Also sort of cheezy but quite engaging and dialogue driven. Oddly enough this one was also shot in one room, sort of.

Suburbia (1983) - An overwhelming sense of despair impels a teenager to leave his suburban home and join up with a group of punk rockers. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who has a soft spot for the punk scene of the early 80s…

SubUrbia (1996) - not as good as the totally unrelated 1983 suburbia, but still pretty good - Five teen friends spend their time hanging out behind a convenience store in a sleepy Texas town. This one really reminds me of my childhood, spending all night smoking cigarettes with friends in the parking lot of a gas station, doing nothing, wasting away life.

I’ll add more if I think of any.

I mostly watch old movies these days (40’s and 50’s) and I have a million of those that I love but it’s kind of hard to judge how obscure they might be. People who watch old movies probably have heard of most of the great old movies I have seen.

  • Do nothing / don’t show any romantic interest.

Get to know her better as a friend. If she becomes interested or is interested in anything more, believe me you will know.

Seriously, just forget about any romantic possibility. If she is interested then she will make it happen… otherwise you will just ruin your son’s friendship for no reason.

  • Because if we were all somewhere else, you would be asking the same question about that place.

“This is rather as if you imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, ‘This is an interesting world I find myself in — an interesting hole I find myself in — fits me rather neatly, doesn’t it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!’ This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, frantically hanging on to the notion that everything’s going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise. I think this may be something we need to be on the watch out for.”

  • If you are in pain now, you will love it when they are finished with the root canal. I have had six of them over the years, and every time I went from feeling absolutely horrible to 100% in the 1 hour it took them to do the operation.

The only thing that is not comfortable are the initial numbing shots.

Make sure they get you good and numb. If you have any doubt as to whether you need another shot, just get another shot.

After 3 or 4 or 5 shots of numbing agent, you won’t feel a thing.

Once the numbing wears off you will feel totally fine.

It’s really not that bad, much better than living with tooth pain.

Also, ask for a big gloop of topical anesthetic where they are planning to do the injections, it helps a little bit.

Lastly, ask for 10 milligrams of diazepam if you have someone to drive you. A little benzo to take the edge off goes a super long way and dentists have no problem prescribing it. Have the dentist prescribe it and take it 1 hour before the appointment. I am 200lbs and 10mg does the trick.

  • Walz did a great job, I am super happy.

I like how Walz chose not to dig into Vance too much, but instead he focused on a return to some sort of a normal functioning government.

Even some republicans are tired of the war between the left and right, and some of those who publicly identify as trump supporters may secretly vote for Harris simply because they do not want to continue to be at odds with their left wing family members.

Some republicans might recall a time when they were the patriotic ones, loving their football, their police, and their country. Now the party of trump is being told that football is woke, that the police are weak, and that the country is a shithole.

I think some of them miss what the Republican party used to be.

Even if it is just 5 percent of trump voters, Walz did a great job sending the message that it’s time we come together as a country and start making progress where it can be made, rather than feeding into the identity politics game of mud slinging.

Vance and his ilk wear their atrocious views on their sleeves, we don’t need to waste any time pointing out how terrible they are, we need to instead focus entirely on what we can accomplish together.

Everyone who is eligible needs to vote this time around, let’s all do our part to make it a landslide.
