5·22 days agoI wish we have a free to use, open source, and privacy respecting search engine that do the crawling and indexing and don’t rely on other search engines.
Maybe we can utilize all selfhosted instances to do the crawling and consolidate it.
I disagree with you since not all of this naming scheme should be used exclusively with reddit.
Some of us moved away from reddit because of enshitfication but we want the content and having the same names for communities is helpful to find relevant content in lemmy.

24·2 months agoWhile I agree with you that there’s an easy fix, it wouldn’t cost them anything to make holding the handbrake release switch enter maintenance mode.
Also, wait until they release a face lift with new some arbitrary signal to control it.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How often do you update software on your servers?English
3·3 months agoI do it every 3 to 5 days. I usually do it when I have time to fix things if it goes south.

I wouldn’t trust an ai code even though it is tested.
It’s like living in a house built by 12 year old and the reasoning behind it that it didn’t collapse. Yet.

I wanted to know the battery cycle for my iPhone 7 in 2019 and the only way was to enable analytics and diagnostics data collection with Apple.
Thankfully, now it’s in the settings.

I just ran MS Paint (XP version) using wine. You just need to install mfc42 library and it runs great.
