Timezones are much better after covid lockdowns now that world has learned to be more async. I’m based in SEA and I work with European and US teams no problem. The hard part is actually getting your foot in the door for a remote position but once you get your career going adapting to timezones and remote work is not very hard.

The biggest crutch for many is attachments. People just can’t leave NYC or whatever hyperinflated city they live in because they fear change or have responsibilities.

You can totally do this with remote income of 1,000 usd/mo.

For example, in Hua Hin, Thailand you can get a small place for 300 usd/mo and remaining 700 is enough to hang out, meditate and wind surf every day. Lots of places like this around the world and it’s really not hard to make 1,000 usd/mo remotely if work on it. You can even do instructing if you get good at a particular water sport completely legally as well though you won’t be making more than 1k/mo but you’ll be making a lot of friends :)

I remember even in the 90s europe america was notorious for being incredibly unsafe to the point where it would be the butt of some really nasty jokes that I’d rather not repeat. The funny thing is that I mostly heard these in eastern european hoods where you don’t leave after dark and have brass knuckles (or equivalent) on you at all times.

Guns are just such a game changer when it comes to mass violence that even the most violent europe city hoods were afraid of the idea of guns being everywhere. I don’t think most americans can even understand how different society without guns is.

The other points like difficulty and money are valid but I think primarily kids are just not worth it for many and they’d rather travel or just have their own time which imo should be a perfectly acceptable take.

That’s for the first child but once you got one the barrier for more is almost always finance or pregnancy difficulties. Kids don’t scale as well as they used to.
