Remember kids, the US government would absolutely never explicitly kidnap and traffick thousands of children for the sole purpose of sexual favors and blackmail. They’re the good guys.

Ah yes, the actual original meaning of politically correct.
His words were awful and defending a mass murderer that has killed at least tens of thousands of Americans just during his tenure because their boss decided to cheap out is beyond disgusting for a political candidate, much less someone in office that wants to remain in office with all their body parts still attached.

Certainly some “encryption” algorithms or really implementations have backdoors, but RSA for example doesn’t. Encryption is only worthwhile if it’s mathematically sound, and you can’t backdoor mathematics without some random undergrad working on their maths degree figuring out for fun.

B) maybe, but they provide unlimited nonrate capped downloads for eternity for your game, including free unlimited downloads and uploads of workshop items. Bandwidth isn’t cheap at scale, you could spend >50% of your income as a small dev on distribution, or for 30% you get everything steam provides for eternity for all your players.
finderscult@lemmy.mlto PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•That lawsuit against Steam’s 30% cut of game sales is now a class action, meaning many other developers could benefitEnglish31·8 months agoIncorrect, steam allows for lower prices and give aways if steam keys you request… As long as it’s not the base price. That’s how humble bundle works. That’s how every dev give away works.
The “devs” in this case want to sell access to the steam version of their game for lower than the steam price, on a permanent basis. Which is against steams rules, because steam provides a service that needs to be paid for, one that is worth far more than the 30% cut.
The bad .world instance has access to this instance, and they absolutely hate when you insult their God king or their preferred side of the uniparty.
It’s simply not a part of the fediverse and it’s centralized to a single instance. It’s not any different than Twitter, except no one interesting uses it.

So, the entire collapse of the food chain.
finderscult@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Should one give money directly to homeless people?English4·8 months agoThat’s nice, but there is no excuse for higher overhead than the amount of money actually spent on the problem, when the problem objectively can be solved by direct expenditure.
We know how to eliminate homelessness and the causes behind it even in a capitalist society. It doesn’t cost a billion per 100 transitional housing units.
finderscult@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Should one give money directly to homeless people?English474·8 months agoYes.
Yes, they might use it for drugs or alcohol, that’s fine, it’s as important as food sometimes.
Non profits and charities are great in theory, but most redirect less than 10% of what they receive towards the homeless look at LA’s projects as the most glaring example, it “takes” 10 million+ per single housing unit for temporary housing. Not due to cost, but simply corruption at every level. From the non profits involved to the government itself.
Giving directly to the homeless skips all that.
Or to put it another way, you can’t fix the problem or treat symptoms by continuing to give money to the cause of the problem. Giving directly at least treats the symptom.
