I know everyone is upset, but I feel this is where the market can really throw its weight behind a competitor that sees a gap in the market. Monopolies always seem so big until they suddenly collapse. Nokia not embracing android can be an example I think, or TV against Netflix or know that Netflix is becoming shit the high seas

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Capcom Not Interested in Resident Evil 5 & 6 Remakes, It’s ClaimedEnglish
3·22 days agoI loved the co-op. Solving puzzles with friends, the facing the mad chainsaw welding zombies. But I know apart from the action and boulder punching issues, why I think, and this is just my thought and in no way maybe the real reason, Capcom would not make a remake of 5 is because of the African setting, which as a South African I loved, but because mostly you are a white character mostly shooting mindless and violent black zombies. Even if it is fiction, the main villain was a white guy it doesn’t matter, I remember there was a small murmur regarding this issue back then, now in the 2020s with people much more vocal regarding social issues, I do not think Capcom would open themselves to scrutiny. The thing for me is that game was made during that time, just like how certain Disney or Looney Toons were made during a certain time, but cannot be made in today’s environment

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Elephants are born weighing 250 Ibs. They are the biggest babies on earth except for Motorists when one bike lane is added in their city.English
8·3 months agoHere I am hoping one day to see reasonable legislation in my country to just cater for motorcycles, and not regulate is with the same rules and toll fees as a large SUV towing a boat on a trailer. Funny enough when they tried putting in bicycle lanes in Johannesburg people complained and said it is just for rich people and anti poor. Then all the taxis started using it as parking or driving ways. So they built the infrastructure but the political will was not there, and the police in Johannesburg weren’t really wanting to take on the taxi mafia, nor poor people wanting to be robbed on bicycles or being robbed of said bicycle
Wasn’t Ozempic, gpl-1 antagonist, supposed to help type 2 diabetes manage their sugar fluctuations yet had the positive side effect of lowering their appetite and now is basically being pivoted as a revolutionary weightloss drug
What I love about hippos is that they are too heavy to swim, they basically sink to the bottom where they walk and eat all the vegetation

Pixel Dungeon@lemmy.world•Maybe we should stop putting traps in red sentry roomEnglish
2·6 months agoWTF never encountered a trap in there, enemies yes but never traps. Makes sense to ask for their removal. Do you maybe have the trap trinket that increases their spawn rate?

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Europe Can Wreak HAVOC On America Without Firing a Bullet.
1·6 months agoOk not a sketchy website. I was using the WiFi at my Company I work for, they were redirecting my traffic leading to the browser warning me of the invalid certificates.
On mobile data the link works. This is the first time I noticed it today, and after the second link from Google gave me a similar issue I knew something was fishy

In real life, I would have loved dogs tearing up Pavlov after reading what he actually did
Yeah not sure what Ukraine is doing there, clearly a troll. But not even the Soviet Union, China, US, UK all the other does not excuse them from their atrocities. They are all bad, it does not matter if a Communist or a Capitalist is oppressing you, oppression is oppression. Trying to excuse your oppression by referring to the other side does it too is not a valid argument. People deserve freedom not subjugation
I am not too clued up to say this or that, but Mental Outlaw on YouTube has been doing very good breakdown on loads of Linux stuff to noobs.
So I will link to this, https://youtu.be/3MwJbRq3-rM
I saw no one mention ZorinOS.
I personally love Mint, tried different distros but I keep crawling back to green Ubuntu
Living in South Africa, I had to reluctantly get a gun, hate it but after they shot my neighbours leg off through her daughter’s window I knew I had no choice because I had 3 other women living with me.
I will call it a successful gun ownership if I never have to use it, I really do not wish to be placed in that situation.
Having seen people be killed by firearms in front of me, the police’s apathy as they were giggling at me when they saw my red eyes and saying it’s what rural poor people do (I think it was their way of comforting me).
Some gun owners are reluctant owners, but really when you have as high a violent crime and murder rate as we do, you have to make a difficult choice.

17·8 months agoThe housing market crash, I believe was a lost opportunity. When the US government had to bail out banks, why did it not ask for those houses that went belly up. Could have started a social housing aid, here it could sell luxury homes to buy low cost housing to give to its most vulnerable citizens. It paid for those houses using people’s tax dollars, why not use it for the benefit of the people

7·8 months agoIn high school, in the late 2000s in South Africa, a TV crew came to our school and we were wondering why. So we were sitting in class and the presenter walked past the door talking to the camera and we heard her say, these kids do not know the danger they are in, for all these classrooms were made out of asbestos. Fun times

I can just imagine the scene, fortunate son playing in the background as a chopper comes flying in, cut to the scene of thousands of Vietnamese people on their computers peacefully typing in bliss…
