Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•A blog re-used one of my Reddit posts as a genuine comment on their blogEnglish
51·16 days agoYou gave reddit permission whenever you posted anything to their site. The fact that they actually “cited” you at least in a rudimentary fashion is more than most. I could quote this or any other post whenever and there’s nothing to stop me. There’s no damage to you and no privacy posting in public.
Yeah as if farmers aren’t using gps guidance climate models soil analysis and gmo/selection etc to try and eke out some profit vs the megacorps.

922·21 days ago“a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual, that is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, and that is characterized by severe economic and social regimentation and by forcible suppression of opposition”- merriam webster.
Autocratic-check Dictatorship-check Economic and social regimentation-check Suppression of opposition-check The only thing missing is nation/race above the individual and arguably their extremist theism could be considered sufficient for this as well.
As others have said communication. There are going to be some uncomfortable conversations, they aren’t going to get more comfortable by avoiding them. And the more important conversations you have the better you make the foundation for long-term success. Revisit these conversation at least once a year.
Sex (and what “type” each of you like or want to try), kids, household chore division, finances, etc. The types of affection that you like to give and receive. Make each other feel valued and loved.
You’re Indian and in an arranged marriage there are family/cultural expectations such as having kids until at least 1 boy, wife doing all chores and childcare. Deferment to your parents etc. These are all in fact unimportant in actually having a successful and (hopefully) happy marriage. Always be on each other’s side more than anyone else’s.
If she wants you to take the lead, do so but keep it open for her to say no and listen if she does.
It’s not real, it would be disgusting if it was. This is a shitpost.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I've cleaned out the coffee machine water tank; it was looking a bit green.
3·26 days agoMost of them do get cleaned, its a food safety and therefore corporate policy. It does depend where you are and how well your state takes food safety though. But thats broadly all restaurants though.
The laundering would come from making extra profit per bs sold because its charged as a full burger but only takes a cheese slice out of your inventory/stock cost. You’d lose some of it to franchise overhead and a corporate analyst would probably catch it at a chain when they get greedier but you could do small scale laundering for a while if you didn’t get greedy.
I’ll keelhaul you for stopping me.
It’s the new customer v old customer. The old one is already coming in and spending money. The new one needs to be enticed in. Same with like any subscription. New customers get a deal, existing don’t.
Thats still the same in the US. The portion of people willing and able to spend the money on making coffee not taste like coffee is just very vocal about it and chain coffee (starbucks, dunkin, etc) is pretty horrendous without other flavors covering it up. McDs is ok because they buy out a lot of the bigger “ok” suppliers but then you have to go to McDs.
SC cities are full go to TX or FL.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Maybe there was a cure for human cancer, but it didn't work at all in mice.
2·1 month agoSo what, we just test things in a dish and then hope it works in a complex organism? Because the other alternative is human testing.
I just don’t see him as gritty. Sure the movies with him are gritty but Craig himself does not give off a gritty vibe imo. He never liked the role and it shows in subpar acting which is a bit upsetting considering how well he can do otherwise. I held off watching knives out for an extended period simply because I had only seen him as Bond and I couldn’t believe people saying he was so good in it.
He’s such a shitty Bond.
He’s a great Benoit Blanc though.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think school uniforms are a form of authoritarianism?
6·1 month agoI guess it depends on the strictness of a dress code but theres usually ways to express and explore even with a set clothing expectation.
Some Dems at least made a show of trying to pass a law so they wouldn’t get paid during shutdowns. Unsurprisingly Rs voted it down.

I like winter. There are parts I don’t enjoy like shoveling or cleaning my car off but things are quieter and cozier. Snow is beautiful, clothing has more pockets, you can breathe like a dragon, things are quieter.
