That’s true. They already evolved and most of us didn’t even realize. News feeds were added and gradually evolved to use information they know about is to push our buttons and affect our behavior and beliefs.
They still needed content, but with generative AI that’s no longer necessary, this is why social media companies are so invested in it.
Social media is no longer social it became a platform to manipulate people. It is much worse than traditional ways of propaganda, because each person gets their customized feed tuned to issues that are more likely to influence them.
I think that might have possibly changed since covid. I believe much less people are now going to cinemas.

I use clean my feeds grease monkey script to hide it and only show my friends and groups I subscribed to and it makes it so easy to see how much of things that it shows is just their stuff and how dead the Facebook really is.
People are still think social media is social. They think that when they post something, all their friends will see it.
In reality what each person sees is determined by the feed algorithm. They can use all the things they know about you and present you content that will press your buttons and change your opinion about topics.
The biggest issue though is to have a proper content. This is where generative AI comes in and this is why owners of social media are so much invested in it.
They basically have platform like the old MSM, except all content is specifically tuned to every person.

I was ok with crypto and nft because it was up to me to decide if I want to get involved in it or not.
AI does seem to have impact at jobs, at least employers are trying to use it and see if it actually will allow them to hire less staff, I see that for SWE. I don’t think AI will do much there though.

For sleep apnea for example which only happens when you are asleep they only need you to be asleep and then they monitor when it happens then adjust air pressure etc and see if that helps.
Their equipment is much more precise than for example CPAP machine, so they get more exact data.
