Yeah, this seems to be a common pitfall for popular tools/projects. I get that the creators pour an astounding amount of effort into these things, so it’s not unusual to desire compensation for your work.

Yep, these scenes are either meant to be titilating, and are hamstrung by the rating to be “softer” so what is the point, or meant to convey things about character relationships, where usually a fade to black gives you enough for plot.

Like I can understand the desire to see a character or actor/actress nude, but still. Therecs better ways to do “eyecandy”, better ways to titilate, and better ways to convey plot and character development even working with the topic of intimacy.

There are incredibly few sex scenes in non-porn media that are actually done well enough to be worth it. Just go watch some porn and have a wank, or find a better writer to convey your plot and characters so you don’t need the sex scene crutch.

I waited too, and it was worth it.

The last… two seasons-ish drop off in terms of pacing ridiculously, which causes the overall plot to suffer as they rush to the finish. There’s also a bunch of stuff about how everything ends that feels cheap because while it’s a believable state for everything to end up in, it isn’t earned or worked towards. The show is usually a slow burn punctuated by the occasional “big shit happens suddenly”, while the final seasons are just speeding along with no time to examine character motivations etc. Stuff that was hinted at previously jumps from “are they hinting that?” straight to “oh, yeah, it’s that. And about 10x the level they hinted at”.

That said, there’s still a TON of good content in the show up until the end.

Which brings me to my next point. For someone being so bull headedly elitist about how bad Windows is, and how smart they are, you’re completely unaware of how easy it is to make Windows work for you and disable all the user hostile shit like ads.

It’s called install the Pro version of the OS and use Group Policy manager. 90% of the settings are clearly labeled in there too, like “Disable Cortana Internet Search”, “Disable OneDrive integration”.

My guy, I do systems/infra at a place with roughly 5,000 machines. The only things in our environment running Linux are network appliances (firewalls, load balancers, etc).

Low level access, UAC, etc is all more than possible in a Microsoft environment. Pleass stop larping just because you’re personally more comfortable with Linux.

More seriously, the overwhelming majority of businesses use Windows as their end user facing desktop OSes. You’re legitimately just being a myopic asshat if you think that Windows can’t be trusted for anything important. (Inb4 you bring up Crowdstrike, which wasn’t a Windows specific issue, but a “we have code running at kernel level” issue, and hit Linux roughly three months prior to the big clusterfuck)

Also, your bit about $150 cost for the OS is dumb too. The average user is buying a prebuilt with the OS preinstalled. Technically they are paying for it, but it’s a wacky discounted OEM license fee baked into the full cost. Anyone not buying a rig with Windows preinstalled can use it unlicensed, can transfer license from pretty much any older Windows OS install from the last 20 years, can just use massgrave to activate it for free, or could go buy a discounted OEM license that they can only install to one machine. The full price license allows for install on multiple machines, which you don’t really need.

My point is, very few people are paying full price for a Windows license.

Yeah, this makes sense for corporate environments with keys backed up to a centralized location like Active Directory. Not for consumers with no reasonable way to keep some key like this in a safe place as a “break glass in case of emergency” option.

Why not? They’re cheap as fuck now, and if you have a xbox one or ps4 or newer (one that still has a disc drive), you already have a fucking blu ray player.

Better off not using an in browser emulator, for a large number of reasons. Biggest one is that you’re likely to randomly lose your save data.

Online emulators are crapware. You don’t know what other code they’re running on your machine, you don’t know if you’re playing a legit copy or some random ass hack, and most importantly it’s a quick route to randomly losing your save data. Also those sites are far more likely to get targeted by copyright enforcement.

Plus, if you use a decent emulator, you can often tale your save files on the go. Retroarch can be a bear to set up, but I can play on my big monitor at home and pick right up on my phone later while I’m waiting at the doctor’s office or something.

As far as the broader tech industry, you need to do a balancing act between specialization and general skills. Never know when the whims of a megacorp will suddenly kill the specific niche you’ve built a nice home in, so make sure your skills are general enough to be transferable.

I believe rule of thumb is to track/log at least one level deeper than what you show to the end user, to ease with troubleshooting and debugging.

Beyond that, logs are only useless until they aren’t, and then if you don’t have them you’re in for a universe of pain.

Personally I prefer chording with the arrow keys for home/end pageup/down. One of the actually useful things about condensed laptop keyboards with the Fn key. Fn+Arrow.

Don’t miss out on Mario Vs. Donkey Kong (GBA, with a recent Switch remake). It’s the psuedo-sequel. The sequels to it though are completely different gameplay styles, unfortunately.

They only care as far as going after large targets running rom sites (archive is much more than that, so they skirt by) and emulation of modern consoles (they go after the devs). They will never go after an individual just direct downloading and emulating shit.
