Wow. That is a very obscure reference but I got it.
well i did not
Most (all?) fruit sold in American grocers has an assigned code for ringing up at the register. Bananas is the only one I remember anymore, but it’s 4011. Not sure if it’s a global standard.
It is indeed a global standard!
Well… if you check the link, it is like 20 country. Hardly a global standard.
Ah, thanks. I thought it was loss.
Idk about register code, but if you weigh them yourself, bananas are #1 in at least 2 chains here
It is the PLU code used for bananas in grocery stores. The PLU code is the code the cashier punches in before weighing the produce to get the correct price.
I think that’s because 4011 is a cool number for bananas /s
No jk, I don’t know
I had to google it
As someone whose first job was a grocery store cashier, this was great. Funny enough, I still remember this 1 code since we are now forced to use self checkouts. Still works!
Big same. When I quit the grocery store some 20 years ago, I immediately deleted all those codes from my memory. But this one remains.
Works for steak and OTC medications too.
I don’t get it…
A long time ago in a synapse far far away in another corner of my brain:
You should use 94011, way more secure.
