Any good blocklist will include rules that filter out the complete cancer that is imgur. I can’t see your memes. Use something else, or just upload them to your instance.
Is it really because “Imgur is cancer,” or are you just a UK person butthurt that you got geoblocked because Imgur refused to comply with your government’s censorship/attack on privacy?
If it’s the latter, go bitch at your MP, not us.
(If it really is the former, understandable and have a nice day.)
Well, I’d say imgur did the people of the UK an unintended solid in that scenario. But I am not located there.
It’d be kind of weird if anyone on SDF doesn’t know how to run a VPN client, anyway.
Imgur blocks VPNs, or at least it tries to. The images won’t load when connected to my work VPN. Seems to work fine from Mullvad though so I guess they’re not doing that great on their blocking.
At least util last week imgur worked perfectly with Proton, at least for seeing images; dunno if uploading works the same.
I can use it over Tor. Or at least, can use it without noticeably more circuit changes than usual.
Are you sure your work doesn’t just block it?
I suppose I’m not sure but I doubt it. Usually when they block something it comes with a big red warning that you’re violating corporate blah-blah by even thinking about this page and you should reconsider your questionable decision-making or some words to that effect.
For Imgur the site loads and the all-important ads load, but the images just time out.
Yeah, I’m not sure what that’s about then. Maybe run a VPN over your VPN? Haha.
I don’t get how people are still generating links to the actual image file listed on imgur. That shithole seems to have learned how to always direct you to their full dumpster website instead of just the image
Yeah maybe a year ago they changed the direct linking to bringing you to a landing page. The new owners are determined to drive it into the ground.
A bunch of people started this project https://imgcat.io/Hmmm sounds suspect tbh. They make a lot of privacy-focused corpo default-template statements like “we won’t partner with anyone who will [sell your data]”. Yet they’re using Cloudflare and their participation links are also 1.- a Google form and 2.- a Discord server (aka a “nu-community”).
It is probably just because it became an idea thing last month I think; After ingur fired mods, and started taking down posts about trump etc.
There’s nothing built up yet, thus the google forms is my thought.
Oh fuck yeah. Thank you!
Go to post, right-click on image, “copy image link”???
So long as it has the form
i.imgur.com/[hash]
, without any more slashes, you’re golden.I just press and hold on the image to “open image in new tab” and send that url. 60% of the time it works every time.
BRB, gonna screenshot this thread and put it on imgur and update this post with the link.
If you’re really interested in seeing imgur content without the tracking, you could use one of the imgur frontends.
Is imgbb still okay?
Isn’t imgbb the land of image not available?
