The first mistake is using Kubuntu. It’s always been a buggy mess.

I’m actually kind of convinced it’s built to make regular Ubuntu look good.

I’ve been using Kubuntu for awhile and on my hardware it works best, but I just found out about mxlinux, and when I get a chance im going to try that.

Sucks too cuz mint looks amazing, but runs like shit no matter what I do.

Per some feedback, I tried on another distro. Fedora 43 (hot off the presses) only has some of these bugs. I couldn’t reproduce 1, 2, and 4 here on Fedora 43 KDE live.

The first mistake is using Kubuntu. It’s always been a buggy mess.

Considering my experience with Kubuntu 24.04, I’m inclined to agree. But it gets top billing on kde.org because (it seems) Ubuntu pays more money than SUSE.

I would use KDE Neon before I’d bother trying kubuntu yet again. Manjaro does a reasonable KDE version as well. Maybe Endeavour and Open SUSE too.

Fedora KDE is my distro of choice though.

I tried to reproduce those out of curiosity for a couple of minutes without much effort and I immediately saw that I have about 40% of those…

But the other 60% seem weird and my menu refused to behave like that. Maybe thats just luck, maybe it depends on version and distro. idk.

Very interesting and detailed post regardless.

        arch

        no

I found it pretty easy to see with thedynamic examples. It flashed “no result” for a second before showing a result for example, happened, especially the first time when searching something after a fresh boot.

For a static example - what the fuck is this result ordering? What do any of those apps except keepass have to do with “ke”?

here is another, when I want to start teamspeak, steam is the first result like WTF?

I find it is absolutely insane and deranged UX that the results where the app name STARTS with the entered substring are not at the top of the list.

I literally could not reproduce a single one of your bugs.

Kubuntu is utter dogshit as an example of Plasma and has been for years. I’ve installed it and seen it be completely unusable. Try the KDE Fedora spin and see what you get.
