When Olympian Tess Howard put on her new uniform for Great Britain’s women’s field hockey team in 2021, she felt something she hadn’t expected at the height of her athletic career: embarrassment.

No downsides except the psychological toll on young woman being forced into embarrassing, impractical outfits on the global stage against their will in a world where the most powerful men have been secretly runing a pedophillic sex ring that traffics young girls?

I kind of hate the idea of uniforms anyways because they are dehumanizing to everyone, but sports is one of the places where it kind of makes sense. You are on a team and stuff.

I think women having cute outfits is a good thing and I think most women agree.

You can’t possibly be this sexist and tone deaf. The entire article is about how this is not true and how people like you are ruining sports for girls. You are the problem and you seem intent on making sure everyone here knows it even though your original comment was removed for being so sexist.

Most women enjoy being beautiful, and there is no downside so long as people aren’t taking it to crazy lengths.

When the women you’re looking at are saying “I’m uncomfortable with this”, you’ve taken it too far

It’s not that hard buddy. They’re people, they can talk

But that’s exactly what’s happening here. The women in question are saying “I’m uncomfortable”

So now we don’t go “okay, but just make sure you stay fun to look at”

What we do is say “that’s not good, let’s give you agency over the situation so you can show off what you’re comfortable with”

The people who are uncomfortable should find a hobby that suits them better. (No pun intended)

Let me break this down real simple.

Everyone likes boobies. Literally all humans, even gay men and straight women, find them asthetically pleasing

The women bouncing around are complaining about their shirts. They don’t feel pretty, they feel creeped out

Don’t fucking drive them out… Are you insane? Let them pick their own shirts. They’re still going to want to look pretty. Stop making it weird

All you need to do is give them autonomy. That’s it. That would make it positive for everyone involved

Not just mine but everyone’s. I’m actually more on the demi/asexual side, but I do appreciate beauty, and people are beautiful. It’s not anything to be ashamed of. It’s actually a lot of work to be pretty. It’s something to be proud of. It makes everyone’s day better.

I love when scumbags freely out themselves.

Women being beautiful is just one of those free goods that we get in our reality.

Like, that is messed up. Are you saying that women are just things to look at? Because that’s what it sounds like, yo.

For one thing there is an issue of agency, or control over their own appearance. Dressing up to look and feel pretty FOR THEMSELVES is a completely different thing from having an external force dictate their apparel. Let’s be real, that “external force” is probably mostly a bunch of old dudes.

Another issue, and this is a big one, sports isn’t about ogling hot bods! They are there to play sports. Athletes, especially Olympic ones, put immense work into training so they can excel at their sport of choice. They do not put all that work in just to become “eye candy” or anything of the sort.

They don’t do this to dudes anywhere near as bad. Imagine if the NBA uniform was crop tops and skin tight briefs or something. That can be comfortable, but in front of an arena and the whole world? Different story.

Just because I don’t agree with you, that doesn’t make me stupid, but making assumptions about people you don’t know anything about is really stupid.

Like forcing them to wear overly tight revealing outfits and perform in front of thousands of people?
