Shout
Shout
Yo Mama’s a Trout
She is the one we’re talking about
Come on
She’s ready to spawn
Come on
Making up ridiculous lyrics has gotten me through retail work. Hearing the same songs multiple times a day gets old real quick, but funny words make it easier to tolerate.
One set of alternative lyrics that my brain can’t let go of goes to Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb.”
There’s always gonna be another cow there
I’m always gonna wanna make it moo
Always gonna be a field of cattle
Sometimes it’s what I’ve got to doThere’s something magical about the word “squirrel” (pronounced as one syllable, skwerl, for those who live in a region where it’s pronounced with two syllables and never heard it that way before). For example:
Everybody wants to rule the squirrel
You’re my brown-eyed squirrel
This is the squirrel we live in (whoa-oh-oh)
And these are the nuts we’re givenSquirrels on film
Squirrels on filmDon’t give me no hand me down shrews
Don’t give me no hand me down chinchilla
Don’t give me no hand me down squirrel
I’ve got one alreadyBlind squirrel (Blind squirrel) (Blind squirrel) Talkin bout blind squirrel (Blind squirrel!)Do it enough and it starts happening automatically. Music will never be the same.
No need to thank me.
You have done the world a service here.
My Year 1 teacher was Dutch and she pronounced it skwerrl and no one had a freaking clue what she was talking about until she drew one.
Going to take this opportunity to share a scene from one of my favourite TV shows:
Gus And Shawn Perform ‘Shout’ On American Duos | Psych
…plus it comes with a bonus Tim Curry!
