Haha I always try to be the last person to board the plane. I sit close to the gate, watch the line, and stand up only as the next-to-last person hands over their boarding pass. Who wants to sit in a tin can longer than necessary?
I never understood people rushing to the gate and trying to be the first. Maybe it’s just the airports I’ve been using, but usually you queue up for a loooong time to be able to be the first to wait at the next corridor. Even if you can sit down on the plane straight away, there’s not much difference sitting in a large hall.
Same goes for the landing. Everyone stands up immediately, only to wait standing, heads tilted under the luggage compartment. Whenever I sit at the window I just wait until there are no people blocking me from leaving the plane. It’s just shitty that I have to do the same stupid thing when I sit closer to the corridor because others might want to do the same stupid thing and I’m blocking them from being able to wait standing on the corridor.
I think some people want to get on sooner so they can put their carry-on luggage in the overhead compartment before it (sometimes) fills up.
I think some people want to stretch their legs as soon as they can after the flight.
But I’m in no such hurry. I would be last to get on and last to get off, if it made things go any smoother.
That’s a good point about the carry-on. I usually have a squishy backpack that fits anywhere, so for me it’s not a consideration.
I’m the guy sat near to you, pretending not to notice that we’re locked into a game of chicken…
You might just have social anxiety.
I just like people watching, and also have pretty extreme flight anxiety and motion sickness so I may have resting bitch face while I watch you pass. I’m sure me vomiting later in the flight is more of a disturbance than my face though.
