    Be thankful we got laundry machines. Imagine spending an entire day scrubbing all your clothes on a wooden board just to get clean clothes.

    I always imagine sisyphus, damned to an eternity of pushing his boulder up a hill only for it to roll back down when the top is near. But it isn’t actually a boulder. It is a ball of laundry that gets progressively dirty and tangled, and when they get to the point of too dirty and unwearable, the ball of clothes unravels and falls down to the bottom, only to be washed/folded and begin their climb again…

      Whenever I get irritated by having to do laundry, I think about how our ancestors had to do it without modern machines. As much as I loathe having to go to the laundromat, it’s still better than having to go down to the river and beat each and every article of clothing by hand.
