Deello@lemm.eeto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL you can ask Google to blur your house out on Google MapsEnglish1·4 months agoThe reason you need permits and licensed contractors to do most work on your home is because most people would rather have something convenient and cheap then care about property values. Take an inspector to a random open house in your neighborhood and ask them how much stuff they find wrong and use that to see if the owner will lower the price of the house. Then watch how quickly you get laughed out because they already have half a dozen offers over asking price, which is probably already inflated as is. The housing market in America is a joke since COVID.
Deello@lemm.eeto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL you can ask Google to blur your house out on Google MapsEnglish33·4 months agoIn a country where housing is being sold at 150%+ of asking price this is completely irrelevant. So many paper millionaires are one step away from homelessness because property values are out of control.

Deello@lemm.eeto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Someone help me understand the sonarr to jellyfin workflowEnglish11·4 months agoYou didn’t specify but this sounds like an issue where you are confusing sonarr and radarr where only one is configured “properly”.
Deello@lemm.eeto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL Nintendo was founded in 1889 as a playing card company in Kyoto, Japan. They made traditional Japanese 'hanafuda' cards and didn't start making video games until the 1970s.English323·4 months agoIs there anybody out there really thinking Nintendo was making video games in the 1800’s?
Deello@lemm.eeto PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Command & Conquer was REBORN as OpenRA | FOSS SpotlightEnglish9·4 months agoLike he said in the video, this has been in the works for years. I’m just curious if that means the OpenRA devs will be allowed to use the recent release of the open source version for new features.

Scroll down to the games description. There is usually a chart that shows what the different versions contain. I see it there for the Anno bundles.
Deello@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•Ron Wyden asks for rules about whether you own your digital purchasesEnglish1·5 months agoThis guy gets it.
Deello@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•Ron Wyden asks for rules about whether you own your digital purchasesEnglish2·5 months agoYes but if the original owner used the game with cheats/hacks/mods or if they cloned it and multiple people used it at the same time then that game cartridge would get flagged by Nintendo and banned. Maybe your Nintendo account gets banned, maybe the console doesn’t allow you to play it, or maybe the game doesn’t do online features anymore. Point is Nintendo decides what happens to your physical copy moving forward. At that point do you become an accomplice in getting others in trouble by reselling or take the L? After all it’s not like the game looks/feels any different despite being a banned game.
Deello@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•Ron Wyden asks for rules about whether you own your digital purchasesEnglish2·5 months agoExcept for the fact that Nintendo is doing exactly that on the switch. Physical games have a digital license embedded in the cartridge itself. In this way Nintendo can stop people from ripping games and sharing the backups with friends. With that said be careful when buying used switch games.
You gotta salt the rim a little. It adds some kick that you wouldn’t get otherwise.
