Linux@lemmy.ml•An upcoming California law requires operating system providers to enforce basic mandatory age verification
15·26 days agoPlease explain to a complete doofus how can someone enforce this?
Cant they just download any linux distro from millions of different places and install them on any machine, even offline?
Fun story: I made the exact same joke when someone was showing me a Japanese digital bidet toilet in a bathroom showroom. Turns out I was not the first one pointing this out, the guy told me with pokerface that most of these toilets have a sensor and the wash function only activates when it detects someone sitting on it. Also the nozzle retracts and its not exposed during toilet use and its disinfected with hot water automatically, so probably the water coming from it is just as clean as directly from the tap.
The more you know…

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: If you receive a high medical bill, don't pay it immediately. Ask for an itemized bill first.

4·3 months agoSo basically people pushing you around and disrespecting your personal space.
I was trained for that while commuting to work.
I am a bit sick of people generating hate and trying to make Stranger Things the next GoT. I saw way too many rage bait videos and posts lately.
Its far from the best season, but people are hyper fixated on the characters appearance and nitpicking on small details just to generate engagement.
S5 has its issues, the whole season was waay too long with lots of repetition and filler dialogue, but I think it was a quite good ending.
Its not against OP, on Lemmy there is not much to do with upvotes, just hating the whole trend.
Its that Edward Norton?
Its a Prison Surprise Zoo! Yaay!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Euro-Lemmings: do you see common charger rules beyond computer devices?
3·4 months agoThere are still plenty of non-C gadgets, but I can see a trend that people want USB-C more and more.
I was just shopping for some rechargable flashlights and it was a common thing to see reviews mentioning the lack of USB-C as a negative in reviews.

When rebinding the keys, the game wont let me save the changes unless everything has something assigned.

During character creation the lightning on the model is completely different what you will see in game and I end up with an ugly character (Dragon’s Dogma, Saints Row 3 remaster, etc.)

Gaming@lemmy.zip•Linux gamers on Steam finally cross over the 3% markEnglish
6·5 months agoIs there any data what percent of steam users are playing multiplayer games with anti cheat? Just curious.
I ditched windows over a year ago and couldn’t be happier. I dont play multiplayer games, apart from the occasional co-op, but there are no issues whatsoever.

Switched to Mint over a year ago from win 10 on my desktop and my wives laptop, we both love it. It was fresh, user friendly and familiar in the same time. To be fair we are pretty much average users without any specialized needs, other than gaming.
Later this year I built a new gaming pc 100% with Linux in mind. I am running Bazzite on it and it works absolutely amazing. Bazzite is currently my favourite distro. Im not a distro hopper or a big tinkerer myself, don’t have time for experimenting, so not planning to switch. It just works perfectly.

They should add a bid option. Then watch people snipe your lunch the last second.
