Gamer™
I have commited the Num-Code for ™ to muscle memory.
Other interests include bicycles, bread making and DIY. I do own a 3D-printer and adore the Nintendo 3ds.
I have never owned a car that did not already belong to 2 family members prior. Surprisingly, I have yet to be kicked down the social ladder and sweep dung for a living.
Also, used cars are like 3000€ here. I have no idea of used cars, but at some point having them be serviced every year should be cheaper than monthly payments, right?
So you would say it’s fair if he had said “It’s called Japan” instead? They glorify their recent past as well.
I don’t think how places used to be plays any part in how funny insulting them is. Despite being as powerful as the UK when it was last relevant and worse, I think people would still be offended if he said Japan instead. “Always OK to hate colonizers” as someone put it my butt, the internet just really wants to make fun of France and not feel bad about it.
I know, that’s what my “when have these things ever been static” was supposed to express.
I choose to believe there is a lot more to the magic object than the truth or it’s own will. It’s a mirror after all, what you see depends on who stands before it. If you ask to see beauty and the reflection shows how you compare to a 14 year old, that’s on you.
Then again, when have these things ever been static. Shrek’s iteration has it’s own will.
Isn’t it super normal to move and turn while sleeping? Is sleeping on the left side so much better that doing it for the first hour only has a noticeable impact? Or do you also need a weighted blanked to keep you in place for it to have that effect?
Sounds like pseudoscience to me.
“Return of the Obra Dinn” is the best Detective-type game I have ever played. Pure inductive, yet always logical reasoning. The setting of an Victorian ship, the 1-Bit artystyle, excellent ost and memorable story really elevate this recommendation to a must-play.
On something from this decade, Balatro is great if you like cards and rouge-likes. But it’s been so popular I don’t think anyone interested hasn’t heard of it yet.
Oh, and as others have pointed out and I’d hate myself for not mentioning it, Tunic is great as well. It’s a love-letter to the instruction book, and makes one really feel like playing an old game and relying on an instruction book, while not being all that great at reading, like some may remember from their childhood. But with modern game design and what others call Dark-soul mechanics (idk, I have never played a Fromsoft game).
Toasters. Specifically the Sunbeam Radiant Control toaster, with the tag line “Automatic Beyond Belief!”. There is a fan site (https://automaticbeyondbelief.org/, excellent url). Like, what other appliance line has a fan site? Surely no modern day toaster!
But of course I first heard about it from Technology Connections video.
Let the language which is without sin cast the first stone.
I don’t know if it’s me, my country or my perception, but “delivery contractor” isn’t really a thing here. I believe because our government was just good enough to spot this obvious skirting of labour laws.
Since they couldn’t as easily exploit the driver, they made the service more expensive and worse. Or they just acted as the ones who would forward your order to the restaurant… but then most people I know just order directly to have better service. I think we ordered via such a service once, after much delay the driver told us the order took 30 minutes to even get to them. Could have lied, but couldn’t have used that excuse if we ordered directly.
Now to your point, as they are just regular employees, they don’t have to wait in the car, the company doesn’t want them to get stuck in traffic, and high urbanization means you can only drive 50km/h 90% of the time anyway, delivery is done with Scooters.
I like the Rock of Ages 2&3 soundtracks myself. Classic music transformed into video game ost is fun.
Uninformed take. First of, we are working on killing off only a few, malaria carrying Mosquito species in certain regions. Whatever niche they leave will be filled by another, possibly native species of Mosquito.
2nd, nutrient transfer my butt, they carry like 1ml and that’s mostly water. You definitely transfer more nutrients by having some ants in your compost bin.
Also works for the other kind of courting.
Rice Burritos
3 minutes of vegetable peeling while the water starts to boil, 10 minutes of unsupervised boiling, maybe 5 minutes stirring. You only need to clean 1 pot, and it’s cheap.
There are like 4 days a year everyone just puts their old sofas, broken TVs and other junk outside to be collected by a garbage truck the next day. As this furniture is mostly usable, people in white vans go around to collect the most valuable stuff, which makes up most of the traffic in villages on those days and causes old people to complain about Polish immigrants.
The village children also have a look around if the weather is nice. Village adults don’t, not because they are above it, but since there is a genuine risk a neighbour you’ve known for decades will sue you for stealing; the garbage does belong to them still as the courts have determined.
Edit: Sorry for forgetting the most important part.
I have nothing but contempt for this business model.
Fewer parts = fewer parts that can fail.
Boeing should look into this.
