I don’t know what this is

The .opus audio format. People need to stop ripping everything to MP3, it’s inefficient and a flawed compression format. Opus is better than it and AAC.
A lot more tourism to Cuba from the US.
the most similar instance to reddit, culture-wise.
Why would anyone want that? The whole point of being on Lemmy is to get away from Reddit
While the piracy community being among the biggest arguably doesn’t make for great optics
I’d argue otherwise. It is great optics to have a thriving piracy community. It keeps the corporate boot lickers out, and attracts the kind of crowd that we should want on Lemmy.
At home I have a set DML panel speakers set up in a 2.1 channel system with a subwoofer. The panels themselves are made of EPS polystyrene that has been sanded down and coated in wood glue, are about 1 meter tall, 30 centimetres wide and 2 centimetres thick (3 foot 3 inches tall, 1 foot wide and 4/5 inches thick) and have rounded edges and corners. Each panel has a Dayton Audio 10 watt exciter mounted to it on the location recommend on their website. The subwoofer is a ported down firing unit, which I have placed in the corner of the room for corner loading.
Yeah I am pretty concerned. I think if work from home or hybrid jobs start requiring devices similar to the apple vision pro, it will only further the divide between people that work from home and those that don’t, as well as increasing the barrier to entry to these jobs. Dividing the working class further.
The tech bubble is bursting. The CEOs in tech really thought that COVID lockdown era growth would continue infinitely, and seemed to bet their house on it. And now the workers must suffer the consequences, of the actions taken by these executives. It’s all a bunch of nonsense and extremely unfair.
Commerical and enterprise software client side.
FLAC files use lossless compression, which means all the original data is preserved (which is why people like FLAC), which makes FLAC files smaller than an uncompressed .WAV audio file, but still larger than an MP3 file, which uses lossy compression. Lossy compression does involve the loss of some data. This is what allows MP3 files to be smaller than FLAC. With the existence of other more modern lossy audio file formats/codecs like .AAC, and .opus, MP3s should no longer be used unless it is required for compatibility reasons. The modern lossy formats offer higher quality audio files at lower file sizes than MP3.
This should be a popular opinion honestly, because it’s correct.
You’re going to have to use what people around you use. Weather it’s Whatsapp, Instagram groups, whatever. That is part of life. I’m forced to use WhatsApp because it’s what everyone in my country uses. The alternative is having no contact with anybody.
Is this the most privacy friendly approach? No, of course not. But we all have to make compromises to live in the modern world, and this is one of them.
I’m on hexbear so I can’t see the downvotes lmao 🤣
I just see the overall score
The image that was part of one of the communities in the shit just works Lemmy is just a straight up racial caricature and somehow people still defended it…
Yeah and that meme had Obama as “tigger”. Wonder why…
The meme starting in China doesn’t mean much. Pretty sure Chinese people can make racist memes too.
Very interesting how all those “pretend socialists” only exist in the third world, and all the “real socialists” existin the west. Yet all the successful revolutions have been done in the third world by “pretend socialists”, and the so called “real socialists” in the west have accomplished nothing. Their biggest success of the “real socialists” in the west being capitalist welfare states or social democracies that rely on old school imperial relationships to fund their welfare in a select few areas.
No Eurocentrism present to this line of thought here at all…
What do you think of Nelson Mandela OP? He was a very good leader, right? You know that he considered Cuba an ally and supported their revolution as Cuba sent troops to fight against the apartheid government in the border wars, took inspiration from Mao and called the Chinese revolution a miracle, thanked the Soviets for giving unending support in the fight against apartheid while receiving the a Lenin Peace Prize? So is Nelson Mandela now a fascist according to your meme?
My personal definition would be “authoritarian communist (or “”“communist””“) regime supporters/apologists”.
What does this actually mean? Is Nelson Mandela a “tankie” to you? You might think I’m being facetious, but I’m serious. I’ll link some photographs and quotes from Mandela that a lot of the capitalists in charge want you to forget:
“I read works by and about Che Guevara, Mao Tse-tung, Fidel Castro. In Edgar Snow’s brilliant Red Star Over China I saw that it was Mao’s determination and non-traditional thinking that had led him to victory.”
“The revolution in China was a masterpiece, a real masterpiece. If you read how they fought that revolution, you believe in the impossible. It’s just miraculous.”
“From its earliest days, the Cuban Revolution has also been a source of inspiration to all freedom-loving people. We admire the sacrifices of the Cuban people in maintaining their independence and sovereignty in the face of the vicious imperialist-orchestrated campaign to destroy the impressive gain made in the Cuban Revolution.”
“Within that international support for our struggle the Soviet Union and other socialist countries stood out. The governments and peoples of the socialist bloc gave material, moral and political support to our struggle in a manner and on a scale that we will never be able to repay.”
So again, does this make Nelson Mandela a “tankie”? If so, what does it say about "tankies " and the west, in that the so called “tankies” supported Mandela in the fight against apartheid, while the west did not. In fact, the west often supported apartheid. Even Antony Blinken admitted to that recently.
“The Soviet Union was supportive of the freedom forces in South Africa, and of course unfortunately, more than unfortunately, the United States was much too sympathetic to the apartheid regime, so that history also doesn’t get erased, you know, overnight, it’s a process,” Blinken said.

Uh oh
Going to be honest back when I was in high school we drew penises on the fields in the dew/frost. It was an all boys school so yeah.
