  • What’s your personal situation? For me I’ve got good freezer space, so a slow cooker and a bunch of freezer safe containers made for a really good investment. A slow cooker lets you use a lot of cheaper cuts of meat like beef chuck and chicken thighs, as well as making the cooking of beans and stews much easier. But it does tend to make larger portions then I need at a go, so I need to food prep and freeze a lot of stuff. On the other hand that allows me to buy in bulk, cook it all up and then freeze it. I tend to have like four to eight copies of a dozen different meals in our freezer so that does take up a lot of space.

  • I’m a little worried that no one has mentioned Mystery Inc. yet. It’s probably the best version of Scooby-Doo ever done.
Also look in to Clone High both the 2002 version and the 2023 restart. It’s a really fun show more for teenagers and the blueprint that Total Drama Island ripped off. It’s also the very first time Miller and Lord, of Spider-verse and Hail Merry fame, got to run a show.

  • Kodi/XBMC - a little over 20 years ago I jailbroke my old X-Box gen 1 and after about a week I installed XBMC (X-Box Media Center), which was about 2 years old. I just was looking for a way to save space because I could fit a whole season of a show as AVIs on a single burned DVD and XBMC could be used to play it. 20 years and a name change later it’s still my TV front end. I’ve moved from a jailbroke X-Box to a Linux based media center PC but I still automatically boot to Kodi which plays anything I throw at it, keeps track of all the shows and movies I’ve watched, is front end for playing retro games and spawns Steam if I needed all off MCE remote and a Xbox controller to game with.

    • Ultima IV: Quest for the Avatar - yes I’m older then dirt but I played my first real video game on an Apple IIe and it was a revelation real puzzles and my first choices with consequences
    • Tetris - ok so a great game doesn’t need a story or puzzles or anything but good game play
    • Gauntlet: Red Elf needs food badly. My first exposure to cooperative gameplay.
    • Pokemon:RBY - I love the mechanics and they were the best turn based combat.
    • Halo - Great storyline’s really do help but the gameplay was a real game changer for me I enjoyed how if you wanted to you could get through a level in several different ways.
    • The Last of Us - Literary Characters that I came emotionally attached to. There’s a reason the first season of the TV series was so good it was because the writing of the game was just so good. I still remember the finale in the operating room when I (Joel really but I was so invested) found Ellie I was angry I was mad and I shot the nurses because I was so mad. I’ve, to this day, never felt so inside a character in any media as I felt then.
    • Spiritfarer - My first cozy game and the only game I’ve ever played that made me stop and think about what just happened. I don’t ever want to spoil the game for anyone so all I’ll say is it’s less then the cost of a Happy Meal on steam and worth more for your soul then you can put a price on.
