Based sun.
Excellent!
Never *LIVE west of your job unless you work nights
(previously used the word “work” which made it redundant sorry)
I usually try and work on location of my job
Makes sense. Wherever you are at any time, just try to be to the west of that if you can.
I do and it blows. In fall the sun will be lower in the sky when I go home and reflect perfectly off the road so that everything is blinding.
Eh, I just took out a restraining order and changed to a night shift and now the sun never bothers me.
restraining order
Against the sun…? Can you do that??
I do. Its only a problem for about 3-4 weeks every year though. After that, the sun is high enough in the morning to not bother anyone.
Counted one crash due to this on my commute this year.Nice, new job search constraint
Witnessed a car crash a few years ago right in front of me because of this. I was the second car in line heading south at a traffic light. When our light turned green, a car heading west in the late afternoon ran the red light and smashed into the car in front of me.
I saw them coming and said, “Watch out!” but of course that did no good. The driver of the westbound car said she lost the traffic light in the sun and didn’t realize it was red. I have no idea why you’d continue on at 40 mph if you weren’t sure you had a green light, but here we are.
I had chosen that route home intentionally to avoid driving into the sun. Had I been the first car in that line, I might have been involved in the crash despite my caution.
This is your punishment for inventing commutes.
My experience with Australia so far.

I don’t think the artist is implying that people driving to work “deserve” it. Just that it happens by nature of a typical commute time with sunrise and sunset.
ill say it, these east going zax are soft and uncultured, compared to us far superior west going zax.
So I guess next time you look for a house/job, make sure the house is east of your job so you have the sun in the back in the morning and in the evening.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
I think they deserve it. Engine exhaust and tire wear creates pollution that gives children lung cancer. Having a bright light in your eyes isn’t as bad as lung cancer.
While I agree that exhaust gas and tire debris aren’t healthy, I don’t think we can reasonably say those cause lung cancer in children. Certainly not in any meaningful number.
Lung cancer only accounts for 0.2 percent of pediatric cancers. And even then, it’s hard to say exactly what caused it: genetics, second hand smoke, radon, asbestos exposure… Exhaust and tire debris MIGHT cause cancer in a particular child, but let’s not freak people out beyond what’s reasonable.

You can check the modlog.

Bring it up in a browser. I can’t bring it up in the jerboa app either.
Way to miss the fucking joke.
I swear, a lot of people here on Lemmy are immune to comedy
Fucking not fucking funny
Lol, it’s even more funny now.
The people in the fuckcars community probably. They talk like this all the time.
I’ll never understand this sentiment that we’re all supposed to move into the same neighbourhood that we work, or walk over 70km to get to our workplace?
It couldn’t be someone who drives east in the morning, noooo, it has to be someone who hates cars…
Dude, stop thinking like that.
Read a history book. We all lived where we worked 150 years ago. It’s normal.

We’re all gonna die if we don’t.
Also, we have better trains now.

Huh, couldn’t be that they are driving east in the morning.
Don’t be as smart as your screen name.
