If I had that kind of money, I’d buy ruined, exploited land just to restore it; regrow a clearcut forest for instance. Then just give it back to the native tribe who lived there centuries ago. I have always wished I could do that.

In prince george they did this like 3 years ago. Gave a huge chunk of forest back to natives. They clearcut it that summer. You can easily see the scar on satellite view. Under capitalism, all humans will exploit nature if they have the technology to do so and race means nothing.

As someone with a similar goal that I actually think I will achieve, that land will hopefully never leave my family and be protected forever. We already own two huge chunks of land on the eastern slopes of the rockies which used to be cleared for cattle and is currently regrowing.

You could always donate money to organisations that do these things. Or use alternative search engines that use profit to support nature. I use Ecosia that plant trees and do other things to have a positive climate impact.

But being able to be Bruce Wayne and save a village in South America would also be a sweet deal.

          Depends on the charity.

Also, surely there’s volunteer organizations where you can spend time doing that?

Sounds like excuses for not doing anything - then try Ecosia where you only change search engine and then go do what you normally do. Ecosia won’t go in and buy a big piece of land and give it away, but they will work well local people and pay them to restore trees and plant life. Of cause the work is a little more complicated than one sentence.

Oh spare me your judgement. My plate is full, and none of it is wasted. I described a thing I would like to do if I had the resources that some rich Lambo owning prick has. I get a bunch of suggestions which are not that thing, none of which I requested, and some of which leave me dubious. I do not trust charities not to enable rich pricks to hoard Lambos. I’m weaning myself off the internet, not seeking new ways to engage with it. I wasn’t soliciting for piddly little ways I could sit on my ass to be a better liberal. I was lamenting the sociopathy of those who have such resources, despite zero hard work, yet waste them.

I’m already doing all I can for the environment. What I normally go do is break my body daily in the field in one of the few trades where fighting climate change is central. That’s where most of my time and energy go right now. That’s why I chose this career. Considering the way this world is going, I don’t expect to live long enough to make the difference I intended.

Look, I know you mean well. Thanks for suggesting an eco-friendly search engine. Hopefully they take data security and anonymity with the seriousness we all need these days. Hopefully it’s not just another slush fund for some billionaire’s spoiled brat. But regardless, your suggestion probably doesn’t fit my wants and needs.

Cool idea, this car can be leased for a couple gs a month, what you’re proposing would take a lot of money. This car is for crypto bros who share a condo in Miami.

Where I live there are initiatives that preserve forests by allowing people to buy square meters. It’s only a few hundred euros.
