Explanation: For those of you lucky enough to not be aware of US political squabbling, it has been a recurring issue these past few decades over whether statues of ‘heroes’ of the Confederacy, the attempted slaver secession of the US Civil War, should be torn down. Many of those statues were, in the first place, erected in response to the Civil Rights Movement in an attempt to intimidate Black Americans.
The excuse given by many is that tearing down such statues is ‘destroying history’ and ‘erasing the past’. As if keeping propaganda pieces up in public spaces is necessary to remember historical events.
I’m okay with leaving this one up - it’s a fine testament to the KKK’s legacy. We can just use it to decorate an appropriate place, like a sewage processing facility or a landfill.
History is key, which is why in parliament square opposite the statue of Churchill there’s a statue of Hitler
… Oh there isn’t? Huh
because of destroying statues, no one knows what happened in Germany in the 30s. who was their leader, what did they do?
I ask so called “historians” and they tell me that they were nazis and “he was literally Hitler”, i hate it when they call people they don’t like Hitler, just give me the actual name, not an insult.
I guess we’ll never know
I’d like all the places in New York named Tr*mp to be renamed in honor of George III.
If their biblical god is real, why do they have no statues of this god? How do they know then?
I can’t find it atm but they didn’t stop there. They cut the crowns off of the fence finials lol. The tail was later found even.
