If someone changed their last name to “Newman,” “Forrester,” or “Carrington” because they hate their father and his last name and just liked those instead, and legally changed it, how would you feel?
Why does it matter how I feel? It has nothing to do with me.
I wouldn’t recognize it. I’ve never watched a soap opera.
If it came from a Sci-Fi space opera, good chance I’d recognize it, and think it was fantastic.Pardon me while I go change my name to “Starbuck Washburne Atreides”.

If someone changed their last name to “Newman,” “Forrester,” or “Carrington” because they hate their father and his last name and just liked those instead, and legally changed it, how would you feel?
I’d feel like, “Man, what did their father do? It must have been something really awful. I hope they feel better now”. But I’d also feel a bit sorry for them because I’m doubtful simply changing their name would fix whatever damage was done.
I would not notice, and if I did I would not care.
I wouldn’t give a shit.
Then again, Grim, if my dad was posting about how super heros are bad because they lie to their friends and family, or have a weird obsession about peoples age gaps when dating or difference in family money. Maybe I would also change my name.
I wouldn’t feel anything….
There are certainly tens of thousands of people who already have that name.
