Trying to watch the director’s cut of Rebel Moon 1 (giving up after ten minutes), I was struck with how much Zack Snyder’s slick but unoriginal style of shooting as well as his total lack of sense of pacing, plot and characters while relentlessly copying elements from the works of better directors and writers (in case of Rebel Moon, George Lucas), how all those elements that make a movie Zack Snyder-y, are almost exactly the same elements that are present in AI slop that tries to be cool and cinematic. In that sense, Snyder actually predicted the rise of AI slop cinema, which we will likely see more and more of in the coming years.

I liked “The Watchmen”, but yea, everything else he did is low quality.

I hate “Man of Steel”. He made Superman a cop, and the climax is eleven nine-elevens in Metropolis.

Rebel Moon was Star Wars fanfic Disney refused to let him make, so he slightly rethemed the story.

While visually they might be good Snyder has a very surface level of understanding of the Watchmen. Dawn of the Dead was OK and the source material for 300 was just shitty writing by Frank Miller.

I read an interview with him. He talks about how he had a Fortnite addiction until his wife made him quit and take up pottery. He talks about his brother dying when Zack was in middle school and how much it affected him.

I’m convinced his brother’s death emotionally stunted him and he’s really a middle school kid, emotionally, with enough adult intelligence to make movies.
