I started playing Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore, and I think I’m about a stone’s throw away from finishing it, as it’s not very long. It’s a pretty decent platformer with a hint of metroidvania, and it’s also a very specific joke about those old CD-i games that they definitely nailed.
I picked up Conscript. It’s funny that since I played the Resident Evil 1 remake about 5 years ago, I’ve been unable to find anything that scratched the same itch, including other Resident Evil games. Now we’ve suddenly got plenty of these types of games. This one is Resident-Evil-1-but-World-War-1, and I’m really enjoying it so far. Games like this that make you manage resources tend to get to a point fairly quickly where you’ve optimized it so much that you don’t have to worry about them anymore, but 5 hours in, this game is still making me feel like I’m just scraping by with what I’ve got.
Still continuing through Dread Delusion. It is still a game that respects my intelligence enough to let me figure out where to go and what to do.
I finished Indika, a narrative adventure game with some light puzzles that’s basically about the main character’s relationship with her religion. If you think you might be into this genre at all, I highly recommend this one. It’s only a handful of hours long, some of the best graphics and cinematography the medium has ever seen, and it’s one of those rare games that finds new ways to make interactivity work with storytelling. I’m not going to say I agree with every choice they made in making this one, but you probably haven’t seen something quite like this before.
I beat a bracket demon of mine in Skullgirls, finally making it feel like the work I’ve been putting in is paying off! I only went 2-2 in the latest tournament, but it’s a pretty stacked bracket, and I nearly took a set off of one of the best Black Dahlia players.
I beat The New Order last week, so I started Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. They’ve already fixed several of my grievances with The New Order, especially when played on a controller, including properly supporting the Steam Controller so I can play it more comfortably. I’m only a few levels in, but it’s more of what I wanted so far. I had skipped this one back in the day because it launched between when I switched to Linux and when Proton got to be reliably good, but I wanted to finish this one ahead of Indiana Jones.
Ace Combat 7 mostly.
I finally beat it and unlocked Mihaly’s plane. The “Strike Wyvern” and its stupidly good. Actually I beat it once then started a new.game to farm the 2 million creds to buy it.
Fired up Cosmoteer again recently. It’s pretty fun to design your ship and slowly improve it over time. It’s been years since I played so I’m very much looking forward to sinking some more hours in and seeing what I can come up with. My ships are usually pretty ugly but hey, I still have fun with it.
This weekend just gone I’ve been playing Sins of a Solar Empire II & Steam World Heist II. Both great games, the style and music in SWHII is really well done, and a worthy successor to the first game.
Deadlock! It’s quite fun!
Same! I’m adoring it.
I’ve been mentioning !deadlock@sopuli.xyz whenever I can, it’s growing steadily and will hopefully come to be annother big and active fediverse community.
Shapez 2, it has consumed my life. Once I run out of shapez to produce I will only have my life left to contribute to the void
Under Night In-Birth II [Sys:Celes] - I WON A FIVE MAN BRACKET WOOOOO! Also played some Skullgirls casuals for a little while after the bracket ended.
Mahjong Soul/Riichi City/IRL mahjong - Ever since Balatro blew up, people have been joking about when we’re gonna see the mahjong roguelike next. Then four different ones went into development. Then Mahjong Soul surprised dropped a fifth one as a limited time event, and it might be the most promising of all of them. Then I broke the hell out of it.
Splatoon 3 - Team practice. Don’t have any cool clips to share rn, maybe next week.
I picked up Payday 3 a few weeks ago and have been playing that. Definitely undercooked compared to the second game, but I am happy to have new Payday. First MP game I’ve played in over a year, and will likely be my last for a while.
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and I’m loving it. People might have been tired of the presentation but Nintendo fans ought tot look beyond that - it has great level design, difficulty, secrets and a super tough challenge mode that’ll keep me busy for a while.
Super Mario Odyssey, wrapping up the moons 4 years after finishing. Not sure if that’s for me, but giving it a chance.
Final Fantasy XVI. Just started, liking it so far.
