No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why people consistently vote against their own interests to benefit the rich?
152·11 months agoObama took office during the Great Recession and rebuilt the economy. Biden took office during COVID and rebuilt the economy. (I know you’re going to try to argue with me on that, so I will just say that we recovered faster than any other developed nation before you do.) You’re kinda dense if you think that as soon as a president from another party enters office it would affect the economy so much as these events did…

10·11 months agoPropaganda. Lack of education. There’s a reason they want to defund public schools. They’re not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. :)

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How good is Lemmy dealing with censorship and why does the sign-up process on lemmy.ml involve having to copy a sentence from "The Principles of Communism"?
31·11 months agoThink of Lemmy instances like a Discord server. You are joining a community. You are not joining up to a centralized corporate website. There are many lemmy instances. Shop around. lemmy.ml are Marxist-Leninist. It’s what the .ml stands for. If that’s not for you, find another instance.
It’s not like you can afford anything else.
Those salaries are not competitive. Not that they should be because executive pay is out of control, but they are also in no way extravagant and possibly too low or at least the bare minimum to retain any kind of decent talent to run the operation.

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Need for Speed: what is the best title of the series?
15·1 year agoThere are three such games in the franchise. My favorite is the original 1998 version.
Dreamcast’s strength was the hardware. Adding a DVD player would have just increased the price out of realistic range. The problem was the software and 3rd party support. The library just could not compete with PS1 and N64 and then the greatest console of all time came out and put it out of its misery, the PS2.

I mean it’s classic Orwellianism to make up wild claims so that they seem normal when you do it. It’s also called hypernormalization. Say crazy outlandish thing that doesn’t exist. Then when it happens no one is surprised. The Big Lie. Etc.
Not sure what you’re talking about. Since the summer it’s just been post about Dems and how Republicans are weirdos. Honestly, the socialist presence on Lemmy is lacking.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The camel was already miserable way before that last straw.
201·1 year agoIt’s not really making a comment on whether they could have addressed it before it broke the camel’s back either. It’s simply saying this is the last slight I will take.
If you go through life not ever taking any bs, you definitely will not be able to hold a job. Or function in general really.
Oh yeah. I forget sometimes that that was the most expensive shitpost of all time.

816·1 year agoIt’s painfully obvious lemmy is overrun with astroturf. Kamala spam has been oppressive and it’s just cringe most of the time. I refuse to believe that most of the real users here are that cringe. Also, I support Kamala.

Companies don’t do profit-sharing because they have no pressure or incentive to do so. In other words, they can get away with not profit-sharing so they do.
Co-ops are community projects. They arise out a strong, educated and engaged community. This does not exist in the US at large. That’s why about the only place with co-ops in the whole country is NYC.
