The Byzantines favourite national past time was the art of removing others eyeballs. Basil the 2nd of his name after winning an important battle in Bulgaria in 1014 captured ~15,000 bulgarianns - blinding every 99 out of 100, leaving 1, 1 eyed guide in each cohort to escort them back home.
