Violet (my birth flower) + 08 (my birth year). Pretty basic.

Oh cool, now what username would you have of you combined your mother’s maiden name, your social security number, and your credit card number?

Back when I was in highschool I wanted a gamer tag that my friends would be embarrassed to lose to.

    It started as simply cocopuff

Wanted to create a 5th character in a game to test something and ran out of variations of my normal username 15 years ago. Test worked out, it became my main and now we’re here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ok well I’m a 50-year-old heterosexual woman and my intuition tells me you’re not an 18-year-old woman.

Your deluge of sexually hilarious & thought-provoking posts & memes have been fun & entertaining but 99.9% of accounts dedicated to sexual topics claiming to be from an 18F are LYING about their age & gender.

Because “18F’s” are the rare unicorn of internet users, and more people pretend to be one than actually exist.

A real 18-year-old woman with this much spice & insight & humor would not be wasting her life & her free time with lemmy losers unless warming everyone up for manipulative purposes.

Real 18-year-old girls don’t think or behave like that.

This violet08 Lemmy account smells like an older person with more life experience than an 18-year-old.

But you carry on because hilarious enjoyable posts but whoever you really are, DON’T MANIPULATE PEOPLE.

I was told by everyone I knew growing up and even now that I was weird, a freak, different. So I just kinda went with it.

To be fair to all of them they’re completely correct it just took me awhile to see why. I have to constantly remind myself that I don’t think like most people or act like most people to the point it’s instantly obvious to pretty much everyone around me

Long story short I got frustrated trying to think an username and typed angrily “ei ole” in Finnish (means it isn’t) and then it hit me.

When I was something like 8-12 years old I was watching Toonami and Cartoon Network. At that time shows like Tenchi Muyo and YuYu Hakusho, despite being very different, took up the same headspace to little kid me. When I needed to come up with a username for the first time ever it was on a now-extinct Game Shark forum and it was as uninspiring as a kid would likely make, something like user123 or whatever.

The second username I ever made, and I don’t remember what website it was originally for, I wanted to use the name of a character from one of the shows I was watching. I transcribed the name like how I thought it would be spelled. The character’s actual name would now be spelled kione from Tenchi Muyo. The character I thought I had come up with the name for, though, was someone with red hair, but whom I thought was a demon in the show. I’m not certain anymore, since this is over 15 years ago, but the character I was trying to name was either Kurama from YuYu Hakusho who is a demon, or Washu Hakubi from Tenchi Muyo who isn’t a demon because that’s not a thing in Tenchi Muyo, but I think I just conflated the characters into one. Doesn’t matter, since I got the name wrong either way.

t;dr dumb little kid me conflated red-haired anime mad scientist with red-haired anime demon, and the name from a third anime character. I spelled “kione” as “kionay” phonetically. poorly. been using it ever since.

Many many years ago I was in high school and just hoped on the maplestory train. Of course I was a complete newb and didn’t realize you could screw up your character.

This was back when you had to roll a virtual dice to determine your starting stats. This was also back when you can screw up your character if you over level the character before getting a job because you only earn skill point after you get the job.

I ended up having to remake my account like 5 times due to some combination of:

    1. Unoptimal starting stats for what class I wanted.
    2. Missing the job advancement by a level.
    3. Unoptimal skill point spending.

By the time I was about to create the character I would end up playing on for 3 years, I couldn’t be arsed to think of a good name. So yeah…

I remember finding out WAY too late into Maplestory that you have to basically know how to distribute stats from the get-go, because there was no going back. when you hit level milestones the game expects you to have a near-perfect stat distribution to buy level-appropriate gear, and when the game is as grindy as oldschool Maplestory every level you had to spend past that milestone adjusting for the imperfect stats was a SLOG. I think the first 5 levels after every milestone my first character spent with the previous milestone’s equipment because i was just too stubborn to make a new character and start over
